Universal credit risk review team ? Whay is this

So I have a message on my uc saying I have an appointment coming up with the risk review team can someone give me an insight as to what on earth that means or what it’s about

A quick google looks like they identify possible fraud and investigate. Looks like they can also suspend claims while they investigate.

Hi i had the same appointment on going from may 27th until today, if you have children they want the birth certificate and passports also yours, tenancy agreement gas/elec safty certificate also EPC, childrens gp registration with letters from school to confirm attendance. Today I received a message to say i have been verified and its all fine good luck.

If your claim was set up during lockdown then this may be the reason why as rules for checking ID etc were relaxed so they are now reviewing all claims and doing the proper more detailed Id checks, to catch out people ( and there were a lot) who fraudulently claimed. It is nothing to worry about.

I have the same appointment today , my payment is due 17th if they are not happy can they stop my payment on the 17th ?
I'm completely legit and not frauding anyone , but now I'm panicking they will stop my payment

I just got a message like this today and bam my depression is off thr roof. What is this about?

It is nothing to worry about. If your UC claim was set up during lockdown they skipped on some checking processes and now just want to check that you are claiming correctly as sadly there were a lot of fraudulent claims during that time.

Hey hun dont worry i had this and once i gave all the paperwork they requested and its all fine now. I was sick and depressed for weeks because of this.

my anxiety is through the roof!! I got a message on my universal credit journal saying enhanced review team and appointment to discuss. What is this all about? I don’t understand. I’ve given them everything. I claimed ages ago in October 2021. :(

We believe you are not entitled to receive Universal Credit because we have doubts about the legitimacy of your claim. Accordingly, we have suspended payment of your Universal Credit. To resolve these doubts on your claim to Universal Credit please contact 0800 328 5644 and ask to speak to the Risk Review Team. If we do not hear from you by 14/09/2023, your claim will be terminated. Regards, Risk Review Team

Was that message on your Journal or by different means eg text? The telephone number is correct but if not via your Journal I would message on your journal to double check it’s not a scam

I'd ring them as that is the official number. Obviously need to check sone details are correct.

I had this message recently and have sent in all documents and now just waiting. How long roughly did it take for them to confirm all of your documents were okay?

I've received the same message. Which documents did they ask from you?

I had to send my current and previous tenancy agreement as I had moved. My daughters birth certificate, passport, an image of myself by the front door and inside of my property, letter from landlord stating rent was only for rent and did not include any bill, bill letters/statements, an official letter from gp/council tax etc.

Now it’s a waiting game. Hoping to hear something soon, my rent is due on the 16th.

"Claimants have been having their benefit suspended for months after being flagged as a high fraud risk. Owen Stevens discusses the DWP’s new Risk Review Team.

In January, Kate Osamor MP secured a Westminster Hall debate on the DWP Risk Review Team. She stated that she had been contacted by ‘29 constituents who had had their universal credit [UC] payments suspended indefinitely’. She was told that ‘the cases were under the management of the Risk Review Team, with little to no further explanation of the reason, apart from some claims of suspicion of fraud. Constituents told me that their claims were suspended for months on end—as long as 11 months, in the worst case.’

THE RISK REVIEW TEAM
DWP set up the Risk Review Team in May 2020 as a response to the risk of organised crime groups seeking to exploit COVID-19 easements, which had been identified by the department’s Integrated Risk and Intelligence Service (IRIS). The role of the Risk Review Team is to review and take action on cases identified by IRIS as being a high fraud risk.

By 17 February 2022, 174,000 claims had been suspended under the Risk Review Process, a percentage of 3.1 per cent. Of the 174,000 claims suspended, the Risk Review Team had ‘de-suspended’ 5,346 claims.2
THE WAR ROOM
IRIS was created, in response to COVID-19, by merging the department’s Risk and Intelligence Service, Cyber Resilience Team and Serious and Organised Crime investigators. DWP officials like to refer to it as ‘the war room’.

did contact them they said we will contact you un 2days . Did you resolve this easily!

Again i got a review after a year but this time the only want id and 4 months bank statements.
