What supermarket brands are nicer than big brand items?

With food prices going up I'm swapping brands for supermarket own brands.
Heinz salad cream for lidl batts brand and can't taste the difference but tried cheerios for Lidl multigrain hoops and no one liked them.
So any good cheaper swaps?

ALDI 100% pure peanut butter - amazing

PleaseYourselfandEatTheCrusts · 19/07/2022 17:38

Winiary Mayonnaise is £1.35 in Sainsburys and is better than Hellmans

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 19/07/2022 17:38

Aldo Greek yoghurt - much nice than the brand they're copying from.

ClocksGoingBackwards · 19/07/2022 17:41

Another vote for Waitrose ketchup, and Aldi butter.

DilemmaDelilah · 19/07/2022 17:42

Sainsbury's decaff Earl Grey teabags. They are the only ones for us.

HandShoe · 19/07/2022 17:44

Sainsbury’s Branflakes (exotic I know)

APurpleSquirrel · 19/07/2022 17:45

Aldi premium pesto - doesn't contain rubbish like potato flakes etc to bulk it out.

crabbitmaw · 19/07/2022 17:46

Costco/Kirkland hazelnut chocolate spread (aka fake Nutella) is far superior to the "real" stuff. Too good, actually. Must be eaten with a spoon!

Oneearringlost · 19/07/2022 17:59

M&S "Empress Grey" teabags, Head and tails above Twinings "Lady Grey"

mydogisthebest · 19/07/2022 18:00

M&S baked beans and M&S crunchy peanut butter

perenniallymessy · 19/07/2022 18:01

Definitely agree with the Aldi biscoff copy ice creams. We have to count them in and out of the freezer to avoid fights 😂

Aldi premium dishwasher tablets are fantastic. All the cleaning products are great and they often have Pink Stuff products in too that are cheap and brilliant.

Not a copy product, but we've just bought a bread maker and the bread is so much nicer than anything you can buy. I mostly do sourdough which is really cheap as just flour, water and salt plus a tiny bit of yeast (as the sourdough programme isn't as long as when you do it yourself so I add a tiny bit just in case). A giant sack of flour was £15 in Costco and will make 32 loaves. Yeast is pretty cheap too.

Workyticket · 19/07/2022 18:01

Lidl knock off Hob-Nobs are better than the real ones

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 19/07/2022 18:01

Tesco chocolate and nut cones are nicer than cornettos.

HoobleDooble · 19/07/2022 18:04

Aldi 'Wotsits' taste more like Wotsits used to than real Wotsits do now ... their 'Pringles' are more like Pringles too and their prawn cocktail crisps are much nicer than Walkers.

PuppyMonkey · 19/07/2022 18:05

Morrisons dry roasted peanuts are much nicer than KP.

Aldi’s Australian Chardonnay is nicer than any wine anywhere ever. They also do a rip off of those chock liebnitz (sp??) biscuits and they’re so much better.

thatsjusttheticket · 19/07/2022 18:07

Aldi baked beans, crisps, weetabix and all the biscuits particularly choc digestives are much nicer than the branded

ladydoris · 19/07/2022 18:26

lidl's cookies made in Scotland. High heavens.

ladydoris · 19/07/2022 18:27

Tesco fruit and fibers. Tastier. More fruits.

ladydoris · 19/07/2022 18:27

HandShoe · 19/07/2022 17:44

Sainsbury’s Branflakes (exotic I know)

Upvote.

Ilovesriracha · 19/07/2022 18:33

Waitrose, Asda and M&S baked beans are way better than Heinz.
Lidl sourdough better than expensive brands.

HeidiWhole · 19/07/2022 18:42

Lidl Deluxe ketchup
Lidl Jaffa cakes
Lidl dry shampoo

SpindleInTheWind · 19/07/2022 18:43

Morrisons Savers sardines are lovely - the tomato sauce is very mellow. (Apologies for giving up on attempting apostrophes in that sentence - I'm just writing what's on the box.)

Asda 'Nutty' bars (little fake Marathons).

TwoMonthsOff · 19/07/2022 18:44

@FourTeaFallOut
we call them ‘Cornottos’
and agreed they are fabulous, I love the mint ones as well.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/07/2022 18:46

Cornottos, I love that! I'm stealing that, thanks.

TwoMonthsOff · 19/07/2022 18:46

@HeidiWhole
I have stopped buying the Jaffa cakes as I would eat a whole tray in one go, they are insanely good.
