Is anyone still shopping with Ocado?

I pay for the mid week pass but each time I try and pull together an online order, I am shocked by the prices of everything, and instead go to my local Lidl or Tescos which is much cheaper.

Yes - one big shop a week supplemented with popping to the shops a couple of times a week. I’ve found no fault with the service and am not particularly concerned about the cost.

QuestionableMouse · 28/06/2022 19:34

I got a really decent shop with them last time but stuck mostly to the offers bit on the app. Meat/fish 3 for £10, fridge fillers 5 for £5. I do like them because I can get stuff I don't see normally and they use bags!

NoHeavenNoMore · 28/06/2022 19:34

Did my first shop with them this week as I had a voucher for £20 off a £60 spend. Was happy with the service though so will use them again in all likelihood

No. Switched to Sainsburys during lockdown and have stayed there (with some Aldi/Lidl shops when I can get there, and occasional forays into Amazon Fresh/Morrisons).

I’m not sure I can justify Ocado’s expense for the convenience of bags. 1) Morrisons sends stuff in bags, as does Amazon. 2) Disability aside it’s easy enough to decant their crates into your own crates/cardboard, and bring those in.

I stopped when they switched to M&S. I now do a very occasional online shop with Waitrose but come the Autumn when so much more of our household income will go on energy bills it will be Lidl or Aldi all the time.

Decafflatteplease · 28/06/2022 19:41

I do but are slowly switching to Lidl / Aldi

Badger1970 · 28/06/2022 19:42

I just did a shop last week, and remembered why I used Waitrose when everything from Ocado arrived with a 2/3 day shelf life. I had to go out and get more stuff over the weekend as nearly all of it had gone out of date.

I find Waitrose better in terms of shelf life and quality. I'm not a M & S shopper, it's all too processed and high in sugar for me (diabetic).

SurpriseSurprise · 28/06/2022 19:44

I do because they actually turn up when they say they will. I had so many issues with others just not arriving or coming hours late. They always arrive at the start of the time slot too

msbevvy · 28/06/2022 19:46

I use Ocado Zoom when I need something quickly or if I want an M&S dine in deal. Not too expensive if I stick to special offers.

Delivery price varies but I have had my orders delivered for free when I have chosen ASAP option and they have been with me in 20 minutes.

Sarah2891 · 28/06/2022 19:46

Yes every week. I'm disabled so I like that they use bags and their service is very good.

LizzieSiddal · 28/06/2022 19:53

I did use them religiously but their prices have become ridiculous.

For the last few months I’ve mainly shop in Lidl and Waitrose- I’m so impressed with Lidl, can’t believe how much I save!

fernz · 28/06/2022 19:59

I do because I don't drive so need the convenience, there are no big supermarkets here within walking distance. I've noticed the rising prices though and also nearly all their fruit and veg has negative reviews so sometimes I prefer to get veg from the local Co-op so I can see it first.

MyBrilliantFriend · 28/06/2022 20:07

I do because of the convenience. It’s just too easy. I also never pay for delivery -get a free slot every week.

byvirtue · 28/06/2022 20:19

I used to be a devoted Ocado shopper but they ditched me from their star shopper programme, then cancelled my smart pass (my credit card expired, entered a new one but apparently you have to enter it a second time somewhere else for the smart pass???) so I’ve stopped shopping with them. Maybe once a month when they offer free delivery.

im out and about a lot more now so easy to pop into Aldi for basics and Sainsbury/Waitrose for organic food. Ocado comes with a price premium, particularly now the supermarkets are attempting to price match Aldi.

BungleandGeorge · 28/06/2022 20:29

I used to be a loyal customer but I’ve noticed that they charge more than M&S do for some of the M&S items which really annoys me.
and they blocked some of their delivery pass holders in lockdown and refused to refund whilst making record profits.

easyday · 28/06/2022 20:43

I used them today, but not for a proper weekly shop. I use them to buy specific M&S products.
I quite like that they still bring the shopping in bags (I reuse them for other things), but they put the basil plant in a special box and my dig food, already packaged in a sturdy bag, in a sealed plastic bag in yet another regular shopping bag!
Many items are often out of stock too.

Crankley · 28/06/2022 21:47

I use Ocado for certain M&S items I prefer, otherwise I use Waitrose and Morrisons, the latter for things like loo rolls, cleaning products etc.

KBLondon · 29/06/2022 09:46

I do a mix of Ocado and Lidl/Aldi. Still do Ocado once every week or two as I find that you can't find everything you need at Lidl/Aldi.

I really miss the Waitrose options though. I feel the M&S items are more expensive and not as nice. Ocado also doesn't seem to stock the cheaper range of M&S items and they used to stock all the Essential Waitrose things.

I've tried a number of other delivery services though and Ocado is still the best re: getting what you ordered.
