Is anyone still shopping with Ocado?

I pay for the mid week pass but each time I try and pull together an online order, I am shocked by the prices of everything, and instead go to my local Lidl or Tescos which is much cheaper.

I do. Ocado is still great. Service is totally reliable and excellent.
But now I get half my weekly shop from Lidl and the other half from Ocado instead of getting it all from Ocado. I do save a lot! I rarely buy M&S food products from Ocado and stick with Ocado/other brands because I’m STILL smartin’ over the ditching of Waitrose… I miss ordering my essential Essentials.

Orangesandlemons77 · 28/06/2022 17:09

Why don't people order from Waitrose for the essentials? I do and get money off codes online

Favouritefruits · 28/06/2022 17:19

Yes, I still shop with Ocado but thought I might try and get a few bits from elsewhere starting next week, water and kitchen rolls are getting ridiculous!

yoshiblue · 28/06/2022 17:36

Yes me - DH and I both work full time with young SEN kid. I also have a bad back and can't handle pushing a trolley full of groceries around. It's all about convenience for us.

Ocado are the best of the online shops for quality, range, good dates, lack of subs. I also price check some branded items and they are regularly cheaper than Sainsburys/Asda (the nearest stores I can access on foot). I tend to go to Aldi periodically to pick up household goods too.

Riverlee · 28/06/2022 17:36

Yes. Keep thinking of changing it but they are reliable and I’ve had them for ages. However, must change to midweek pass as I rarely order at the weekend.

KindergartenKop · 28/06/2022 17:38

I've been a loyal customer for 10 years but they were getting so expensive. I don't mind spending more on fancy bits but their basics are much pricier than Sainsbury's or Tesco.

Chronicallymothering · 28/06/2022 17:41

for the first time in a long time i cancelled my slot this week and have tried Waitrose online instead. Fed up of so many things being out of stock, a lot of things were going out of date before the best before and also miss Waitrose quality/ price combination.

OxanaVorontsova · 28/06/2022 17:45

We are, mid week pass, the offers are great, the service is reliable and I can mix bargains with more expensive stuff without going to several places. We’re not reliant on ready meals, although they’re handy if necessary. The vegetarian range is good and I find the fresh produce generally lasts well. I go to Lidl occasionally and Sainsbury’s if a top up is needed.

OxanaVorontsova · 28/06/2022 17:45

Waitrose don’t deliver where we are so not an option for us unfortunately.

Cantthinkofadifferentname · 28/06/2022 17:49

@Unbored think you are me, I've switched to Morrisons, done one Ocado shop when they gave me a chunk of money off!

Glitterspy · 28/06/2022 18:03

No. Used them religiously through lockdowns but the switchover to M&S resulted in so many items being unavailable and so many substitutions with each order that I gave up. Oh and it’s ££££.

Ducksinthebath · 28/06/2022 18:03

I do, partly inertia, partly shopping in bags. And it’s getting worse every week. I can remember the last shop that didn’t need a refund for damaged produce. And they keep coming early, not 15 minutes, hours and hours early.

Stumpedasatree · 28/06/2022 18:08

I don't like the M&S options particularly, not interested in branded products, and when I want to buy Ocado tins of chopped tomatoes for example, they never have it in stock which annoys me.

Discovereads · 28/06/2022 18:17

I do, have done for years. I’m disabled/cannot drive/cannot take public transport so home delivery is necessary- they did a good job keeping me as a priority customer during Covid when they were swamped with new customers so I feel I owe them a bit of loyalty even though I don’t like M&S and wish they were still with Waitrose. I realise it’s a bit more money, but having PIP helps with that.

darisdet · 28/06/2022 18:24

I used to use them for full shops, but I could never get everything I needed from there. I use it as a top up shop, occasionally, at the weekend.

It's definitely more expensive for standard brands you can buy elsewhere.

artisanbread · 28/06/2022 18:29

Me. I have a smart pass which I found works cheaper for me than booking a slot each week as I am not home very often because of work. I can get even a weekend slot usually the day before. They almost never give me substitutions. It doesn't seem to be noticeably more expensive than when I go to Tesco but that might be because I plan more carefully when shopping online. For me, even if it is a bit more expensive it is worth it for the convenience as I am limited for time. When I worked part time and earned less I shopped in Lidl which did work out cheaper but I had to drive 25 minutes to my nearest one.

I did prefer when it was Waitrose rather than M&S though.

OnlyTheBravest · 28/06/2022 18:47

I am spoilt for choice. I rotate Ocado/Sainsbury's and Asda. Luckily, I find them reliable with most items in stock and sensible substitutions.

floweringpoppies · 28/06/2022 18:49

popandchoc · 28/06/2022 16:03

I do every few weeks when they offer me money off.

Same here

familyissues12345 · 28/06/2022 18:51

I love it, it's a bit expensive so I don't use them weekly, but they are great for not subbing/having stuff missing

GoldPig · 28/06/2022 18:52

No. I wasn’t keen on the switch to M&S. I shop at Sainsbury’s on the high street now and appreciate the exercise. I’m also less prone to overspend on indulgent treats.

Misstes · 28/06/2022 19:04

I do but I tend to do it once then leave it a few weeks then they will send a money off voucher to entice you back. When I’ll stock up again.

Donotgogentle · 28/06/2022 19:12

I shopped with them weekly for 11 years but then they cancelled my Smart Pass recently and sent me a patronising e-mail blaming me (not at all my fault).

It’s freed me up to shop around though. I’ve been ordering more with Waitrose which I prefer ethically. Agree about the bags though.

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 28/06/2022 19:12

We’ve switched to a mix of Lidl and Ocado. I NEVER pay for delivery, always grab a weekend or later slot, service is excellent and reliable, love the quality of their own brand fruit and veg (Lidl is dire for this imo) .

Lesserspottedmama · 28/06/2022 19:16

Was with them for years but dropped them when I heard they were switching from Waitrose to M&S partnership. Waitrose has the best quality (supermarket) food available. Whereas M&S food is fancy junk food. Been really happy with Waitrose ever since, also quite like Sainsbury’s too and go to Lidl approx once a month for a few bits.

Festivalpartygirl · 28/06/2022 19:18

Nope, not since they stopped Waitrose, I now shop between Lidl and Waitrose in store, our town they are opposite so works out perfect and I’m saving ££
