I'm not particularly interested in the royals but it's a historic event so I watched and thought that the children, especially Louis were a rather nice contrast to the pomp and circumstance and gave the opportunity for the Queen to be seen as a bit more "human". That was perhaps a deliberate ploy of course, and if it was, I think it worked.

It wasn't a ploy. He wasn't supposed to stand there. Originally he was right between Kate and William, but he tried scramble along the balcony to get to Charles. Kate quickly stopped him and that is where he ended up.

Yes it was at the end of the Trooping of the colour. If you go to the last 40 mins or so you should see it.

Thank you so much!

I think its nice to see how all the Queens GGC are close to each other and I also think its sensible - as the Cambridge Children get older, their cousins are the ones they will be able to trust because they 'know' what royal life is like. Shame there are more girls than boys though. George doesn't really have any boys his own age - James is 14 then George at 8, I think Louis is the next oldest at 4

WatsonsToeTag · 03/06/2022 08:26

Can't blame him for covering his ears during the Typhoon flypast - those jets are loud Loud LOUD.

My younger brother, at that age, would have been just as cute and pesky - and would have absolutely loved seeing all the planes and people to wave to.

Bordesleyhills · 03/06/2022 08:41

Loved seeing them and what lovely children!

I find it hard to relate to your take on Kate. I'm not getting a vibe from her that life is idle and worry-free.

If I were going to make comparisons regarding chores, I would probably think about great and great grandparents mangling the washing by hand and beating carpets on the washing line, and think how hard it was then and how much easier today. None of us are chained to domestic tasks. There is all over lino /big squares of lino rug/or laminate flooring to mean you don't have to clean human faeces, vomit, etc. out of floorboard cracks. My sister has two cats, and is frequently cleaning up bird entrails, as well as accidental fur ball sick, not to mention litter tray misses. She choose too, although it would personally sicken me to do it, and she never mentions how resentful she is that she isn't the Queen with loyal servants to minister to the corgis.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/06/2022 09:05

just adorable, as always

MintyCedricRidesAgain · 03/06/2022 09:15

I thought the kids were fab...in fact if there's another occasion, I'd vote for sticking the full contingent of great grandchildren on the balcony with her Maj and doing away with the grown ups!

Mrsjayy · 03/06/2022 09:19

Isn't he adorable they seem like "ordinary " behaved children which Is nice to see although Charlotte did tell him off for his enthusiastic waving,

Can you imagine. 🤣

Just from what we have seen it would be hillarious. No one to stop them shouting or Mia Tindall and Charlotte from play fighting.

FabFitFifties · 03/06/2022 09:31

He looked like he was absolutely loving it to me. Him and the queen were the best bit of the balcony appearance.

Swayingpalmtrees · 03/06/2022 09:51

Some of the children really take after members of the RF:

George - so much like William
Charlotte - so much like the Queen
Lois - so much like Harry as a little boy

Lois looks like a delightful handful!
What a relief to us mere mortals!

Why would he be bored? That would be a fun day out - carriage ride, seeing all your cousins, watching big planes. It might be tiring but not boring!

We took GS to a local airshow at the same age. Train ride, picnic on the beach, some ride on the funfair followed by the planes, as the Red Arrows flew over he said, "This is boring can we go and do something."

So I guess a fun day out means different things to a 4 year old.

I see what you mean about George and Charlotte but not Louis. He's like his mother's side of the family I think. When he's serious he has a very determined look about him.

LilythePunk · 03/06/2022 09:56

Louis is nothing like Harry. He looks like Kates Dad.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 03/06/2022 09:57

patchysmum · 02/06/2022 22:15

poor love the noise from the planes must have been awful he looked really distressed with his hands over his ears.

Oh, don’t be so wet. It was a bit noisy for about 30 seconds.

Mrsjayy · 03/06/2022 09:58

I don't think Louis looks like Harry at all he looks like his brother did at 4.

BanditBluey · 03/06/2022 10:00

I showed my DH the photos of him pulling faces next to the queen as we were at a wedding recently and he got very angry at our 3YO who began singing "we don't talk about bruno" during the wedding vows 🙈 I was telling him it's okay people will find it funny, it's expected of kids etc but he was very upset and embarrassed at the time. I just said look! Even a prince standing with the Queen isn't expected to behave perfectly

And the MN award for Sense Of Humour Failure goes to......

Nitgel · 03/06/2022 10:02

Louis looks like Andrew 😁

Kids will be kids and do things like that but if your 3 year old wouldn't stop, he should have been taken out, especially as it was during the vows.

jamapop · 03/06/2022 10:03

He was incredibly well behaved really wasn’t he?

I don’t have much sympathy for any of them most of the time but every time I see Kate or William trying to get their children to do what they need them to it full view of the public I do think “rather you than me”.

Swayingpalmtrees · 03/06/2022 10:04

No, I didn't mean Lois 'looks' like Harry, he seems to have the character of Harry, someone very happy to be himself, I can see the rebel in him too!!

I think we have a new royal rebel in Lois for sure :)

Gilmorehill · 03/06/2022 10:06

It’s lovely to see how well the royal gcs get along. I think Louis will grow into a handsome young man and be the subject of lots of headlines.

That would be brilliant Grin

Princess Charlotte would keep them all in line if watching her yesterday was a good indication of her personality.
