My bedside table looks like it belongs to a senior citizen.

My once minimalist bedside table now looks like it belongs to a much older person.

It is now taken up with - a box of tissues, allergy eye drops, ibuprofen gel, specs, extra strength hand and foot cream, bottle of water and paracetamol.

It has now become obvious to me , I am no longer "young and hip!"

when and what was the moment you realised you were not so young anymore?

When I went to an event and they automatically gave me a senior discount! 😟

Fenella123 · 02/06/2022 17:44

a) "Ooh Antiques Roadshow!"
b) sex scene on screen - end up looking past it to the furniture and decor with FAR more interest (and going, "that's not hygienic, comfortable or realistic!")

Crikeyalmighty · 02/06/2022 17:54

I can now apply for an over 60s discount railcard- very depressing !!!

@Solosunrise it's really weird you mention that- I have really stiff feet and ankles if I sit in same spot for more than half an hour- when I get up I have to walk round the block for 10 minutes!! I thought it was only me

Deathraystare · 02/06/2022 18:17

Oh yes! The white hairs on the chin (and upper lip and the scrolling down to your (1960's) birthday. Takes forever and I live in fear that instead of 1960 it will say "Forget it Grandma!"

doodles55 · 02/06/2022 18:21

I have just checked
remote for the radio
night cream
meds
Rosary Beads

bippityboppity87 · 02/06/2022 18:21

@Kanaloa I have two 😂 Both bought off Amazon

This one I can pop on the bedside table

And one you can put around your neck, although not as big a fan of that one. But not terrible

When I decided to give in to my urge to wear nice comfy nighties with flowers on

When you start looking at the clothing section in the garden centre and think 'hmmmm that's actually quite nice'

This made me properly laugh. I bought a really practical and comfortable nice top for winter from one of these sections and immediately felt a shift in my lifestyle.

I8toys · 02/06/2022 18:29

I've got deep freeze gel and spray, cocodamol and ibuprofen, Heat pads, biofreeze and plug in electric collar thing next to me in bed. Sodding frozen shoulder.

Whykea · 02/06/2022 18:30

Haha yes! What age did u start doing this? I think it was when I had my first child, I would be like aww, what a nice young chap. I hope he still gives his mum a hug 😂

noodlezoodle · 02/06/2022 18:38

White eyebrow hairs. Having to use the torch on my phone to look at the menu in dimly lit restaurants (e.g. all of them). I'm only 48!

maddiemookins16mum · 02/06/2022 19:09

I had to explain to a 23 year old who Jon Bon Jovi was yesterday.

When I was worried the paramedics didn't look old enough

During the 1st Covid lockdown when we were advised to look out for our elderly neighbours. We realised we ARE the elderly neighbours.
We're only in our early 60s🙄

When I was at the swimming pool, and instead of thinking, "he's hot," about a new lifeguard, thinking, "ah, I'd have been so keen on him when I were in my 20s. I hope his Mum's proud."

Absolutely this!

Or in a film when you fancy the main character's dad rather than the main character..Grin

When dd's primary school teacher said 'you were my brown owl when I was at Brownies!'

ladygindiva · 02/06/2022 19:40

My bedside table contains
A woman's weekly magazine ( my mum saves them for me)
Reading glasses
My hrt
My anti wrinkle nightcream and makeup remover wipes
I used to rave all weekend in the 90s.

user1471538283 · 02/06/2022 19:48

I always sat on the floor. My preference was sitting on the floor near the radiator and TV or just to sit and read. I would sit on grass in the park. By the time I was 40 if I got onto the floor I couldnt get back up without help.

left a wedding at 9.30pm last night, home, cup of tea, in bed by 10.30. Wedding still had 1.5 hours left. No regrets.

Get home & get settled.

Foldingchair · 02/06/2022 20:06

My laces came undone yesterday, on a walk. I signed and wondered out loud whether my knees were up to crouching all the way down (skirt on, so had to do a full crouch).

Dd asked if she wanted me to do them for me.

@Kanaloa

are you me?😀

the ‘youngsters’ at work come to me for paracetamol, plasters, Germolene, needle and cotton, spare pens, hairspray etc….
But not san-pro…. Obvs I’m far too old to have periods….

when I ask them why they don’t carry pills, plasters etc, they look at me as if I’m daft!!

@Fenella123

‘thats not hygienic’ 😂

StrongOutspokenOftenIrritating · 02/06/2022 20:13

I’m an ‘older mum’. I’ve noticed people trying to figure out if I’m an old mum or a younger gran when I’m at playgroups.
