My bedside table looks like it belongs to a senior citizen.

My once minimalist bedside table now looks like it belongs to a much older person.

It is now taken up with - a box of tissues, allergy eye drops, ibuprofen gel, specs, extra strength hand and foot cream, bottle of water and paracetamol.

It has now become obvious to me , I am no longer "young and hip!"

when and what was the moment you realised you were not so young anymore?

Involuntary groan every time I get into my friend's low sports car.

Somanysocks · 04/06/2022 10:59

I like a blanket over my knees of an evening.

Mine has a big pile of books and my reading glasses.

Trouble is, my menopausal mind can’t concentrate to read…

I discovered exercise in my 40s, and all the physical symptoms that I thought were inevitable parts of ageing are gone. Please don’t suffer with aches and pains if you don’t have to.

This.

I completely concur with most of these, but I’m going to be that twat…

in my 30s, I used to look like The Evolution of Man as I got out of a chair and shuffled across the living room, straightening up as I went. I had a knee that locked if it stayed in one position too long, lower back pain and couldn’t touch my knees, let alone my toes.

I discovered exercise in my 40s, and all the physical symptoms that I thought were inevitable parts of ageing are gone. Please don’t suffer with aches and pains if you don’t have to.

I realise there are certain conditions that can’t be exercised away, but if it’s ‘just’ ageing, why not give it a go? I can’t believe how much better I feel.

I agree with this too, I started realising I was getting old before my time and although my once weekly yoga or pilates class was definitely helping stave off aches and pains it wasn’t enough, so I have joined the gym and started exercising more regularly, I still have to make myself go but am really starting to feel the benefits now.

When I started viewing handsome young men as ‘son-in-law’ material, rather than ‘husband’ material!!

gimmepeaceandsky · 04/06/2022 12:50

I think that some signs of ageing is doing the three “yum yum yum” when eating something nice - which I hate to hear lol and saying “opsy daisy” sounds like you are reallllyy reallyyy old kkk or getting there !

gimmepeaceandsky · 04/06/2022 12:53

And saying “trouble is” ….

I make an 'oof' noise when I sit down in a low comfy chair Smile

My son does this and he’s only thirty!

What is it about trampolines that does that to the bladder?

Trampolining involves jumping which puts an extraordinary amount of pressure on the pelvic floor. I found out the hard way too.

When I realized that I had infinitely more of my life behind me than I had in front of me. When my partner was diagnosed with dementia and Parkinsons Disease and I became a carer virtually overnight. This past week has been hellish, but tomorrow I will dust myself off and get on with it - again.

I don't have a bedside table, though there is one on the cat's side ( my partner and I don't live together) I put my cup of tea on the floor, under the bed. Whatever I'm reading and my glasses on the bed, between the cat and myself.

"...there's one on the cat's side"

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is like me, my partner/cat share a side

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 05/06/2022 13:54

@Worriedatwork1 yep we do the same. The cats side has a fluffy bed on it and some toys and usually some dreamies.
But apparently it’s better to snooze on our side amongst glasses, mugs and various kindles, phones.

I love this thread ❤️ I have a heated throw for when I’m sitting on the sofa and, as someone else said, when I get out of a car (or a chair if I’ve been sitting a while) I’m lame for the first 20 steps 😳

FayeGovan · 07/06/2022 19:06

Yes, i hobble coming out of the car too
