I solved today's Redactle (#76) in 147 guesses with an accuracy of 31.97%. Played at www.redactle.com/

It took ages to get what it was about, then once I had had the answer in a few goes

iklboo · 21/06/2022 18:25

@Chikapu - thank you. I'd never have got that!

I solved todays in 84 guesses, most of which were in the same area but not quite.

I solved today's Redactle (#76) in 103 guesses with an accuracy of 43.69%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Took me ages to narrow it down. I think sometimes these shorter articles can be more difficult

I solved today's Redactle (#76) in 96 guesses with an accuracy of 19.79%. Played at www.redactle.com

Made that more complicated than it needed to be.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2022 18:48

Some luck in initial guesses having got the most general possible idea of the theme.

I solved today's Redactle (#76) in 7 guesses with an accuracy of 71.43%. Played at www.redactle.com/

This seemed to be cut off part way through possibly due to a link in the original. Has that happened before

Oh, so it was. Something it didn't know how to handle, I suppose.
Another oddity today was that I had an idea what a phrase in the first section might be, but then there was a refresh and that bit had changed slightly. There was an alternative which made sense. I just had a look at the history on the wiki page itself and there was indeed that edit (though at 16:34, not sure what timezone).ConfusedGrin

Once I'd worked out what sort of thing the target is, it came together pretty easily. Lots of 'nul point' guesses to begin with though

Doing these puzzles is really helping my general knowledge, as I always at least skim the revealed article, and sometimes read more closely

drspouse · 21/06/2022 19:51

I solved today's Redactle (#76) in 44 guesses with an accuracy of 40.91%. Played at www.redactle.com/

In contrast, I had the general area by about half way through and lots of guesses I thought were useful, weren't.

VivienneDelacroix · 21/06/2022 19:53

What did everyone discover yesterday before resorting to Google? I had it was a German philosopher and the rough time period. I had never actually heard of him.

The same - though I'd not entered any guesses I was fairly sure it was a German philosopher who was alive during WW I. I didn't know any who were 3,7 letters so at that point there wasn't much point persisting with the text. I found a list from which it was either Max Scheler or Leo Strauss, and tried 'Max' first, as that seemed somewhat more likely than Leo to be in the text somewhere even if it wasn't the target.

InMySpareTime · 21/06/2022 22:04

I had Max and German Philosopher before googling.

I had “anthropologist” which wasn’t terribly helpful.

L1ttledrummergirl · 21/06/2022 23:16

I've been busy so sat down at quarter to five to play. At five to, I messaged ds1 in desperation who gave me German philosopher, this with ww1 which I had helped and I just got a result.
I didn't post this one though as it was a bit of a cheat but I didn't want to lose my streak.

I might try this one a little earlier in the day tomorrow. Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2022 23:21

Did anyone get yesterday's without a search? (I didn't Google, I DuckDuckGo'edGrin)

L1ttledrummergirl · 22/06/2022 00:05

Nope, I definitely searched for that one.

Dreikanter · 22/06/2022 08:35

Nope, even Google wasn’t terribly helpful.
