BGT live semi finals

I've got tickets for the first BGT semi final but it's one of those where they give away too many tickets so you have to go and queue on the day.

In a moment of madness I've booked train tickets and a hotel on the off chance we manage to get in but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of this or any tips!

It's at Hammersmith appollo so I've booked hotel nearby as I'll have DD(8) with me so if we do get in I don't want to be dragging her on the tube late at night.

Our train gets into Euston at 9.10 so we'll tube it straight to Hammersmith to get in the queue but I'm wondering if we'll be too late even by then. I've seen something online from 2019 that said they started giving out tickets at 9.30 and all were gone by 11am... We would be there before 11am but probably only by half an hour.

If anyone has any experience of this let me know. I've already warned DD that we might not get tickets and that we'll have a lovely couple of days in London if we don't. Just want to know if I'm completely mad even trying to get tickets 😬

Brrrr I’m frozen! On the tube back to Richmond now to get the car and drive an hour down the M3 🤪 We’re in the circle this time… row D

Got tickets and now back home to relax for a few hours! There was a kid next to us in the queue who was 4 weeks away from her 8th birthday and they wouldn't let her in, she was in tears, her dad assumed it would be ok as she's close to her 8th birthday so knows how to behave, but apparently it's because of insurance purposes, so they're understandably very strict about it, felt so sorry for her though, she was so excited😪

I also asked the guy giving tickets out if we could have seats in the stalls, he said none are being given out to the public today as they're all for their sponsors, you might be able to get them once all the sponsors have theirs and you arrive afterwards, but then you run the risk of not getting in at all! He said it varies with every event, but this is the first year I haven't had seats in the stalls and our seats for tonight are even further back than Tuesday's😡Oh well, at least I know why they do things now!

I’m now back home in Winchester. We need to be back at the theatre later than I thought, considering the show starts earlier tonight. Where are you in the circle @Bonjovispjs?

@summer1971 Yeah, they said be back for 6.15 which is what they said for the semi final even though that started half an hour later, we were there at exactly 6.15 on Tuesday but still had to queue for the best part of an hour, so I'm not rushing tonight!We're in block 5 row k

Oh poor girl, daft of the parents to try it though, it was made very clear that 8 was the minimum age.

Ahh that solves the ticket mystery! I guess if you were in the area still you could go back later and see if you could swap for the stalls but defo wouldn't want to run the risk of only going later and getting no tickets!

Have a fab night everyone, we'll be watching from our sofa..... Might nip and get some nice snacks too. DD is still telling everyone who'll listen that she had her skittles taken off her Grin

@Stopdropnroll Yeah it was a bit daft and they queued for 2 hours only to be turned away, poor kid!

At least we know now why they do things, I still wouldn't want to risk coming later just in case, I'll stick to the tickets we've got, at least we're guaranteed to get in!

Thanks, I'm sure everyone will have a great time, although I don't think the line up is that great (still upset about the dogs not going through😂) but I mainly go because I love Ant and Dec, yes I know I'm a saddo😆

I've been telling people in the queue that too, that I heard of an 8 year old who had her skittles taken off her😂

GrinGrinGrin the legendary contraband skittles. When we had to queue up for the boat on the Thames she was worried they'd take the new bag I'd got her to replace the confiscated ones off her Grin

I think the dogs are the wild card! I think it should have been Immy though ☹️

Oh wow! I asked him and he said there are very limited seats for stalls. I’ve never been in stalls, can you see the stage well? Or do the judges block you a bit

@summer1971 I really hope they are the wild card, that would make me very happy😁I heard there's 2 wild cards, don't know if that's true though, but if there are, it should be Immy and the dogs!

@Krish3855 I've always had brilliant seats in the stalls, even if they weren't right near the front, which is why I'm disappointed about being in the circle this week, but never mind, at least I got tickets!

@Krish3855 Yeah, that's usually how it works, the earlier you get there, the better seats you get, but not this week unfortunately!

Final was great and I got my pic taken with Tom afterwards😁It's been nice chatting about it with you all, let's do it again next year!

Yes definitely. It was quite hard to hear with all the shouting, but good final. Wanting Tom to win!! But I guess with 3 great singers, votes are divided

Hi All,
I just wanted to say thank you for this thread....the advice and tips were sooo helpful. We (me, hubby and 10yo DD) went on the Thursday semi-finals and got to the queue @9.30am . I told everyone I had a chat with how this thread was a saver (lol). We got our tickets at 11am, were in the stalls and had a very good view that evening.
Enjoy the rest of year!!!
