Well, we are still going! And still learning about subjects new and old!

As before, only rule is no spoilers!

OP posts:

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 111 guesses with an accuracy of 54.95%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Ffs. Yet again I only used one of the singular or plural!!!

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 17/05/2022 20:18

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 99 guesses with an accuracy of 55.56%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I didn’t get the theme until guess 95 and then bingo!

Zonder · 17/05/2022 20:30

ErrolTheDragon · 17/05/2022 16:17

There's also been Chopin and (arguably) Abraham.

Oh yes I did have Abraham.

Zonder · 17/05/2022 20:34

I think I've found the clue, and got the right word after it but it hasn't helped me much!

Peckhampalace · 17/05/2022 20:45

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 95 guesses with an accuracy of 52.63%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Wasn't expecting that to be the final answer!

AliasGrape · 17/05/2022 20:53

I tried not to just type in every word that came to my head this time.

I spotted the clue (though not sure I’d have known it was one if I hadn’t read there was one) then spent an embarrassingly long time trying to work out what might come after it, couple of hours mulling on that! In the end I didn’t even get that, but worked out it was a certain type of thing, and just guessed those things till I got the right one.

Still think it’s my best one ever though!

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 19 guesses with an accuracy of 94.74%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Cooroo · 17/05/2022 21:00

Bogged down as usual with 'century', 'first', 'lady' etc. But reasonably quick for me:

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 92 guesses with an accuracy of 53.26%.

Redcrayons · 17/05/2022 21:09

not sure what the big clue was, but plugged away thinking it was something completely different. Got lucky with a word which revealed a type of the thing, and went from there.

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 72 guesses with an accuracy of 38.89%. Played at www.redactle.com/

WheelofLife · 17/05/2022 21:19

95 guesses with 38.95 accuracy. Whew!

BlackCardi · 17/05/2022 21:31

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 34 guesses with an accuracy of 44.12%. Played at www.redactle.com/

The same score as yesterday - although less accurate!

IllDoItButOnlyForTheAttention · 17/05/2022 21:33

You solved it in 68 guesses
Your accuracy was 70.59%

Can anyone tell me what Redactle #28 was? It's missing from my list - I think I got tired and pissed off and gave up on it!

It was monosaccharide.... one of the tougher ones!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/05/2022 21:50

Urgh. Why do I always struggle with the so called easy ones?

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 257 guesses with an accuracy of 32.68%. Played at www.redactle.com/

(Unlike monosaccharides, one of my lower scores...)

AlisonDonut · 17/05/2022 21:58

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 2 guesses with an accuracy of 100.00%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I've not done this for a couple of days as been a bit hot and bothered so very, very pleased wth that one.

AuntieStella · 17/05/2022 23:07

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 309 guesses with an accuracy of 30.42%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Just didn't get going - I can't really say yet what wrong track I went off on (or why(

Fifthtimelucky · 17/05/2022 23:17

31 guesses for me today, which I'm pleased about, but accuracy was pretty poor (only 58%), which was worse than usual.

gillybombilly · 17/05/2022 23:36

I’ve redeemed myself today, thankfully, with 23 guesses and 60.87% accuracy after a woeful few days.
I hit lucky early on though so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Ah, thank you! Yes, I wouldn't have got that 😆

I’m actually weirdly disappointed - I’d just sat down with my coffee looking forward to a couple of hours’ puzzling (am in Australia) and got the word after the “clue” everyone’s mentioned by accident (thinking it went somewhere else) after which the answer was obvious. Oh well, I doubt I’ll ever better that!

Dontcallmejacqui · 18/05/2022 03:54

I solved today's Redactle (#41) in 41 guesses with an accuracy of 53.66%. Played at www.redactle.com/

If I'd read through the text without making any guesses until the end I'd have got it in two.
Back to something impossible like protist tomorrow no doubt

YouLookinSusBro · 18/05/2022 07:44

Am I the only one that doesn't read the text other than the first paragraph and just starts bashing words out?!

InMySpareTime · 18/05/2022 07:46

I do that, but I'm not really in a hurry to finish or overly bothered about high accuracy, and it's hard to scroll through the whole article on my phone.

Redcrayons · 18/05/2022 07:54

I do that as well. Once I start filling out the words lower down I start reading those bits.

i don’t think I’d enjoy it as much if I got it in single figures. I need it to last as long as it takes me to have a cuppa. 100-150 guesses is the sweet spot for me.

PortiaFimbriata · 18/05/2022 08:12

It's very rare that there are clues lower down to give you a massive hint from the start though. Only this one and Meryl Streep that I can think of, so it's fun as an occasional variation.

AuntieStella · 18/05/2022 08:22

I didn't spot a massive hint! Would you me later (like after 5pm!) what I missed?

And I do scroll through, because you can sometimes get clues about whether it's science-y from formatting. And I like to see if there are lists or potential bibliographies.

I don't like getting them too quickly either! Recent fave was 'foam' because I hit the science side of it and was baffled, then had a very satisfying breakthrough with head > beer > foam!
