One of my normal starter words (on guess 29, since I was exploring something else) was 984. Another was 998... if only I had used that one first!

I got very lucky with 998 after around 40 guesses.
I wish cemantle was more logical like this. I had to abandon yesterdays stuck on 999 because it was keeping me awake
