It's annoying that it doesn't check for typos, but given that valid entries can be names, numbers, abbreviations etc it can't really.

My first guess got 2 hits. One of those hits gave me enough to use in a search. I spent a bit of time reading various search results and got the answer. If searching is cheating, then I cheated today! I use a search engine on this most days though or I would never get it. I like using it as a test of my search skills not my general knowledge 😂

Yes, I also do it much like Biwi and Margaret. I'm not too bothered about guessing it quickly, as I find it very therapeutic revealing the words so that the sentences make sense, so I only Google anything if I have done it for a very long time without getting it.

I've found century/centuries useful on a few, especially if there's a short redaction immediately following. Though I was slightly irritated on the Babylonia one that they used BC/AD rather than the BCE/CE used in others, which I thought were the academically preferred forms nowadays. I need to get better at estimating word length from the size of the redaction!

Yes, I agree. My aim is always to narrow it down as much as I can so that I have an idea of the subject - if I think it's something fairly specialised (or an area where I know my own knowledge is poor), then that's when I resort to Google.

I though that one was Football too for a while.
