I gave up in the end and googled at 212 . I had a derivative of the word but not the actual word that I needed

EatSleepReplete · 02/05/2022 22:46

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 233 guesses with an accuracy of 58.37%. Played at www.redactle.com/

OMG thanks @dapsnotplimsolls & @SoupDragon! I got a version of that at guess 49 but never thought to try out all the variations on the word... Doh!

I think that's been a common issue today, having looked at reddit and twitter after I got it!

Lotsofpots · 02/05/2022 23:01

157 guesses and 56% probability. I didn't even know that was a word, so ended up having to Google once I had entirely exhausted my knowledge on that subject.

I take a similar approach to others. No Google, unless I know that I don't know the answer if that makes sense (eg the Chopin example above - I knew it was Chopin but didn't know his first name)

Vastra · 02/05/2022 23:04

Thank you @Wisterical that does help. I always start with here, there, this, that, not and so, in order to fill in a bit, I read through once too see if there is anything obvious, but with the exception of Meryl Streep, I’ve not spotted one yet. I did see ‘… on the run’ in the Lagos article, but it didn’t help me on that day. I need to slow down a bit rather than punch in words probably!

Cooroo · 02/05/2022 23:06

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 247 guesses with an accuracy of 58.30%.

I was close at 126 and close again later but I did resort to Google for inspiration. Googling obviously isn't a great help as I'm shit at this game but really enjoy it!

PortiaFimbriata · 02/05/2022 23:06

Got it on 173, thanks for your help. I had literally no idea that was a word: I got a more common derivative on word 23 FFS.

Wincarnis · 02/05/2022 23:37

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 127 guesses
hopeless, I had the short form at 32!

AliasGrape · 03/05/2022 00:20

Not my best work - I swear I’d filled in every word apart from the actual title by the end, I didn’t actually realise the difference between the title and the shorter version of that word which I’d entered about 75 guesses previously. Oh and yes, a lot of help from Google by the end.
I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 232 guesses with an accuracy of 65.09%. Played at www.redactle.com/

luciatrope · 03/05/2022 00:47

168 guesses, plurals on, no googling

Was a bit stuck so came on here for inspiration. The comments about a derivative word really helped, I knew instantly what it must be then (got the original at 71).

Oddly enough, the famous 90s song with the same name came on Spotify straight afterwards Shock

bonkersbirdie · 03/05/2022 05:39

I went down a proper rabbit hole yesterday on Lagos - I got cardi b, snoop dogg and Beyoncé and a bunch of others so I was very confused for a while! Got there in the end when I gave up on that aspect though. Just about to start todays.

Soul11Soul · 03/05/2022 08:06

Started doing redactle thanks to the last thread. My first attempt saw me succeeding after about 261 guesses 🤣🤣. This morning's effort was much much better.....

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 22 guesses with an accuracy of 77.27%. Played at www.redactle.com/

AlisonDonut · 03/05/2022 08:34

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 181 guesses with an accuracy of 53.04%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Fucks sake! Talk about a right state. I went round and round in circles there.

OhRiRi · 03/05/2022 08:53

What was yesterday's word?

QueenOfThorns · 03/05/2022 08:55

@MrsElm no I don’t, but I thought it was easier than usual to work out the general type of topic from the words used in the first couple of paragraphs. Then there was the unusually capitalised word that someone else has mentioned, which narrowed it down a lot. I do use Google, though, it’s part of the fun for me, looking for clues, and I don’t have much patience Grin

WheelofLife · 03/05/2022 08:57

OhRiRi · 03/05/2022 08:53

What was yesterday's word?

Yesterday was Lagos :)

WheelofLife · 03/05/2022 09:01

Re the googling, I’ll Google if I know I’ll never be able to guess the answer. Yesterday I’d exhausted every African city I could think of, so I just gave up. Same today…it was something I didn’t know much about. When I google, I’m basically admitting defeat :(

Akite · 03/05/2022 09:41

Argh, found todays very frustrating. Got very close early on but then circled around for AGES.

OwBist · 03/05/2022 10:13

I got stuck on a similar (but different) area for a while, then got a derivative of the actual word and went round and round in circles. And this is having read this thread, and knowing that lots of others had too! 😀

Mxflamingnoravera · 03/05/2022 10:16

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 105 guesses with an accuracy of 73.33%. Played at www.redactle.com/

That was a struggle, I was getting loads of correct words but couldn't figure out which of the many the final answer was. I ended up having to Google. But I cracked it in the end.

BIWI · 03/05/2022 10:29

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 46 guesses with an accuracy of 78.26%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I realised pretty early on what the subject was going to be - but had to resort to Google for specifics. I don't apologise for that, because I reckon I did well to identify what I needed to research!

ApolloandDaphne · 03/05/2022 10:47

I think googling is fine. Once I have the vague area I treat it like research and I learn so much!

GuppytheCat · 03/05/2022 10:58

I'm bitter about today's/yesterday's, as I thought I'd already tried the keyword some considerable time back (I hadn't, I'd put in a derivative) and that it must be something else of a similar ilk.

That's brought down my (admittedly propped up by 'Washington Post in two lucky guesses') average rather severely.

OhRiRi · 03/05/2022 11:41

WheelofLife · 03/05/2022 08:57

Yesterday was Lagos :)

Oh God I'd have been there all day, I was off on a total tangent with that one!

BowerOfBramble · 03/05/2022 12:48

I'm an idiot, thought I'd guessed the word (had put in every other variation...), got a tonne more words and then had to resort to google to realise that I had put in EVERYTHING else even slightly related, and in fact I'd forgotten the obvious
