I've realised I actually hate driving.

I thought it was certain journeys I disliked, but no, I've recently had the realisation that I just actually hate driving, and it doesn't matter where I'm going or how long the drive is.

It manages to be both stressful and boring and I'm going out of my way to avoid it. Currently sat on a bus that will take 45 minutes to get to where I'm going instead of the 20 I could do it in the car, but at least I can relax, Mumsnet, read my book or just zone out whilst someone else does the hard work of driving!

Anyone else?

I used to love it, id just jump in my car and drive wherever- was just like second nature really and enjoyable. Now I'm not so fussed, I sold my car for a practical one and it's very much ill just drive if I have to, I don't enjoy it at all. I do take turns on family journeys but if someone else offers I'm always happy with that!

You've totally twisted what I said there, well done.

You literally said "How on earth can anyone hate driving???"

Can't really see how I have twisted anything, when it is what you said.

Wow really? How on earth can anyone hate driving??? I adore it! Especially long drives on motorways/dual carriageways. The only place I'm truly happy is behind the wheel!

It doesn't take much imagination surely to realise that we are not all the same as you!

The main place where I am NOT truly happy is behind the wheel. I'd literally rather be just about anywhere else. I find it anxiety inducing, tense and uncomfortable.

@Kite22 You didn't twist it. You remarked on what was actually said - i.e. someone who loves driving clearly having zero understanding of anyone who doesn't.

I used to be a super nervous driver so would avoid driving, I’m generally a lot more confident now but I still only drive if I have to, if I can get a bus or walk without much hassle I’d far rather do that. No stress of parking, no having to pay attention to what is going on! Only time I ever sort of enjoy driving is when there are clear roads and I can just pootle along at whatever pace I like.
