Where the fuck is sandwich spread?

Sainsburys has been cleared out of coleslaw the last 2 times I’ve been so thought I could sub it with Heinz sandwich spread. I’ve not had it since I was about 12 but really fancy it now I’ve thought about it.
I traipsed all around the aisles but couldn’t find it and there was no one to ask so I left it but now really want some!
Where does it live? I would have thought next to the mayo/salad cream?

I 'think' it lives near the tuna from my recollection

dementedpixie · 25/04/2022 18:54

Maybe try near the pickles. Seems to be on all the supermarket websites

Wannabangbang · 25/04/2022 18:54

I haven't eaten it in years but it used to be by the meat pastes salmon pastes marmite etc

LaDoIceVita · 25/04/2022 18:55

Pretty sure it's with pickles in Tesco.

FourChimneys · 25/04/2022 18:55

I think it's with the pickles and chutneys. I've seen some very recently but can't remember if it was Sainsburys or Waitrose.

I used to love it as a child, cheese and sandwich spread sandwiches were a treat.

Moogoo · 25/04/2022 18:56

I think it’s normally by the pickle and jars of meat paste.

Greensleeves · 25/04/2022 18:56

Hopefully it's all been scraped together into a giant festering minging ball of nastiness, and launched into the sun.

We used to call it "sandwich sick" which won't surprise you if you find it.

Wafflehouse · 25/04/2022 19:00

It’s near the spam and tinned meat/fish and pastes in our sainsburys, all the sandwich fillings together.

I did look there, maybe there’s none of that left either Sad

Haaaha it probably is grim and I’m just having fond childhood memories of it.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll try the pickle aisle next time 😀

It's with the Shiphams spreads in morrisons, not sure about tesco

gogohm · 25/04/2022 19:06

On the end of the aisle in my sainsburys, next to the shrimp paste and tinned ham for the "mature" folk at the over 55's park homes site - also fray bentos pies and tinned salmon

lightand · 25/04/2022 19:08

BodgertheJogger · 25/04/2022 18:59

😂

Where I am, it is used to put into prepared food bank bags for people to buy at £3.
I notice they also have a lot of those fray bentos pies in them too. Though maybe not both in the same bags.

bigyellowTpot · 25/04/2022 19:09

ooooh I'd forgotten about the Heinz sandwich spread I remember my mum buying it when I was a kid. I need to buy some myself now I wonder if they'll have it in my local asda I didn't know they still made it what were the ingredients what was in it??

^^this.
I used to get my packed lunch and it often a sandwich spread sandwich. Nothing else. It was marginally better than fish paste.

Edinvillian · 25/04/2022 19:11

I’ve had this issue! My grandparents still buy this and now I do their shopping. It’s fine if I’m doing an online order but if I’m actually going into the store, I don’t get it as can never find it 😂

AmberLynn1536 · 25/04/2022 19:12

Thick white bread, loads of butter and lashings of sandwich spread, loved this when I was young. They used to sell a cucumber spread which I loved but they stopped selling that years ago unfortunately, probably the same time they discontinued ToastToppers RIP

Deadringer · 25/04/2022 19:12

Ooh I haven't had sandwich spread for donkey's years, must watch out for it.

5zeds · 25/04/2022 19:13

Some things are not meant to be found.
