@MargaretThursday your mind must work very differently to mine, I just can't see a connection between the vast majority of the list and the word, and had to synonym hunt even from 998.

Turns out the theme I thought I had wasn't the theme... I was trying to connect 989 and 985, plus my other 13 900s words.

I think I do work differently to a lot of people here. There's been several times where I have thought one is really difficult and people on here are saying how easy it was.
There may also be a regional aspect too. The target word is one I'd have used where I grew up, whereas 998 is more what people would use where I live now.

60 guesses in and some low greens so far. Not in need of any help on here yet but slightly put off by the really weird profile of the word, with the very low similarity of the high greens to it.

I have some odd greens. I can't get the theme at all.

had to consult a thesaurus after I got 965 9 guesses in then almost all related words were cold! Going to Google now to check whether the Americans mean something different by it.

Found it in 40 but had to use hints.

my first word was a green (621) so I thought it would be over a lot quicker than this. Had to go for a hint as I’d exhausted everything related to 621 which took me off in a much better direction and fortunately know this area quite well so didn’t take me long.

a lot of the low greens have a really low score, don’t usually see greens will very high 20s and 30s.

Aaaaaargh. I had one hint at guess 103 which gave me a useless 973 then somehow, eventually, got there. I now have an old SATC episode going through my head. I doubt that's a hint, probably just a sign that my mind is weird.
