now I’m up to 999 , trying plurals and different endings but no luck

I got it in 389, but I'm quite cross with myself, because the word is one is one I was sure I'd already tried, so I titted round for ages before realising!

Didn't enjoy that. Hint 1 gave me 978 which was no help at all, and I was stuck on 894/ 957 for ages which are not words I associate with the target. It was the nudges here that got me to the answer in the end. Ki

On the wrong track for a while because my first green was 894 ... not a word I'd associate with the target except maybe negatively.

Today was weird. Took me 24 guesses to get my first green which was 813, another 46 guesses based on that which were ALL cold, then 988 then the answer.

988 is closely related to one of my standard opening words, which was very very cold - which I think sent me the wrong way.
