40or so words after I got 989 I gave in and took the hint. That together with a clue upthread meant I got it in another 7!

Well, BIWI's clue got me to 989 itself... and from that I guessed 650 which fits the cryptic clue nicely but evidently not what was required.

Second day in a row I’ve got a really high word right in at #9 and then faffed. But yesterday I overlooked a really obvious connected word whereas today I would never have got it without the clues on here.

I got some higher greens but it was 899 that got me there after all the other greens that had me going round in circles.
