Overly invested in Adam Frost's new garden

Why has he moved?! His garden is tiny compared to his last one! DH loves Gardener's world, I Mumsnet while it's on but have a secret love for the calming, capable Adam, and his beautiful garden. Can't understand why he has bought a house with a tiny (for him) north facing garden. Why Adam, why! They will never let you take over from Monty now

I am sure if you all tell him, whoever he is, he will buy his old house and garden back so as not to disappoint y'all. Get. A. Grip!

Kat1953 · 25/04/2022 07:03

@mirw oh dear. Bit grumpy are we?

Shinyandnew1 · 25/04/2022 07:09

I wondered if he had lost income over lockdown and couldn’t keep that big house on-he used to do a lot of stuff with Garden shows didn’t he-like Chelsea? Not sure how much GW pays!?

MrsJamin · 25/04/2022 07:15

I too was shocked when watching GW! The walled garden was beautiful, and the woodland area was glorious. You could see how much he loved it, he must have been so so sad to leave it.

Tallyhodavey · 25/04/2022 10:18

Adam is my favourite and I too was bewildered by the new small garden. I did do a totally stalkery Google and the old house has not been up for sale or sold, and his business is still registered there so maybe he hasn’t downsized at all- maybe this is to appear more accessible to viewers? His gardening school no longer exists so maybe he has struggled (like many of us have) during lock down and decided to downsize, renting out his old house?

Tallyhodavey · 25/04/2022 10:46

Solved! As another poster said, he has moved back to his old house and I’ve got to say that it’s beautiful and the tv didn’t do it justice!
look forward to seeing him get this garden back to its best. media.rightmove.co.uk/76k/75378/114146435/75378_103255001406_DOC_00_0001.pdf

Agree tho shows for sale and completely landscaped by Adam Frost 2021 Sept…makeover forGW filmed maybe last year!…carry on sleuthing

pastaandpesto · 25/04/2022 11:52

Adam Frost designed our (very normal, actually on the small side) garden in our old house back before he was famous! He did a great job. Funny seeing him on TV now and remembering him having a cup of tea in our living room looking at plans.

GardenLadyJ · 25/04/2022 12:21

Maybe it didn’t sell. ..and he’s starting the garden again for GW

Tallyhodavey · 25/04/2022 12:37

If you watched GW the photos on brochure show clearly it’s the same house and garden!

ImStillMe · 25/04/2022 13:10

Which episodes do I need to watch to see both gardens?

Flaunch · 25/04/2022 13:33

I read on a gardening forum that his wife has been unwell and he’s downsized the garden to enable him more time to look after her.

I like Adam but don’t find him anywhere near as soothing as Monty. Personally I’d have preferred Francis as next in line for the throne.

TonTonMacoute · 25/04/2022 14:24

I seem to remember Adam moved into that house, then I didn't watch for a few years and was surprised to see the huge spread he had more recently. I'm sure he has a good reason for the decision he made and I wish him and his family well.

I really like Adam, and I think him working on a more normal garden, like most of us have, is a good thing.

Monty leaves me cold, and his huge garden with avenues of topiarised cones and millions of greenhouses is rather alienating. I have a biggish garden, but it just depresses me seeing him in his fucking jewel garden. I will be glad to see the back of him.

I love the guest gardens, the potters (Gordon Cooke?) was beautiful and inspiring and the aeonimum lady was brilliant!

I'm also excited to see what Adam does with a more 'normal' garden. Mine is a modest size and North facing so I'd love to pick up some ideas.

Although seeing that brochure the TV definitely didn't do it justice!

PaperTyger · 25/04/2022 17:17

Agree it's strange! The other garden was so beautiful!

RidgewoodGardens · 25/04/2022 19:27

At a recent talk, Adam said that he has moved back to his previous home which he had rented out. He said he managed to renegotiate the lease on his farmhouse which suggests it was a commercial venture to accommodate his gardening school and design business. He talked candidly about his wife having poor health and one of his daughters needing support too. He and his family suffered quite bad social media abuse following the (incorrect) media claims he is pro fox hunting. He further added that he decided to scale back his commitments. I assume he refers to the financial commitments of running several businesses rather than his TV work. He seems a genuine guy who also spoke of his early life and his fractious relationship with his father.

I can't find it either - didn't seem to mention the new house/garden in the most recent episode.

Can anyone help?

It was the most recent episode...... episode 7 on iPlayer (I think?) The episode with Monty planting a window box for shade and the ceramic potter showing us his garden.

bowsaw · 26/04/2022 00:02

how long ago?

He has been on TV for a very long time, he was Geoffs right hand man back in the day.

It was last Friday's episode.

jumpedintwice · 26/04/2022 15:54

His previous house was rented. Maybe he's bought the new one now he's earning a lot from TV?

DarkFuckeryoftheHumanHeart · 26/04/2022 20:32

Ah fab sleuthing, the new (old!) house actually looks lovely. As long as he and family are happy then that's fine with me Grin Sounds like he is still on GW for the long haul which is a relief
