Overly invested in Adam Frost's new garden

Why has he moved?! His garden is tiny compared to his last one! DH loves Gardener's world, I Mumsnet while it's on but have a secret love for the calming, capable Adam, and his beautiful garden. Can't understand why he has bought a house with a tiny (for him) north facing garden. Why Adam, why! They will never let you take over from Monty now

"I never want Monty to leave GW. That first "Hello" of GW is when my shoulders drop and I can exhale after the working week."

Oh my, oh my NO. That first hello makes me want to hurl something at him. Smug smug smug smug smug.

BooseysMom · 23/04/2022 11:31

I've just watched the latest GW and now I see what you're going on about! I hadn't noticed that Adam had moved because I hadn't seen it!

But I was surprised by the new garden and the busy road and proximity to other properties would surely make recording hard.

I think it's good he's moved * *somewhere new as the style and situation of the garden perhaps makes it kind of accessible for more people, those living next to a busy road and who have a north facing garden. It will be interesting to watch it develop.

Easilystartled · 23/04/2022 12:59

I’m so excited as I also have a modest north facing garden! Might start watching more regularly now!

I agree. I love GW but roll my eyes sometimes when Monty does all the jobs in his garden. I’d like to see someone using a normal garden, who doesn’t have access to massive greenhouses, beds and multiple different gardens to develop.

kinglake1982 · 23/04/2022 16:58

I am so excited to see what Adam can do with a "normal" sized garden. I think the old garden took up too much of his time so less time to spend with his family.

Friend worked for him as a nanny. Hhmmmmmm

His garden is in Sale near Altrincham.
He is called Gorden Cooke.

Helenmwilcox · 23/04/2022 18:03

Sorry predictive text.
Gordon Cooke.

Kat1953 · 23/04/2022 18:10

Sorry who's Gordon Cooke?

TraceyLacey · 23/04/2022 18:19

Ooh I'm interested as my garden is north facing. Fine in summer but otherwise damp and miserable.

Ah, but that's where the viewer video's come in as they show normal people with normal gardens. They're my favorite part of GW now. I love seeing what people have done with their gardens, whether a balcony or large plot, they're all great to see. I'd love to send in a video of our new build plot but there's not much to see except bloody turf and a few veg boxes!!

Candleabra · 23/04/2022 20:21

@BooseysMom Yes I love to see what other people have done with their gardens too. And I’d be interested in your new build plot! Have you got plans for it, or is it an emerging picture?

Gagaandgag · 23/04/2022 20:29

Maybe they just couldn’t afford the old house anymore?

Oh no! Was he not nice? Don’t break my heart 🥲

florentina1 · 23/04/2022 20:44

When he first moved, I really thought it was in anticipation of Monty Don retiring as he had some health problems. I assumed that it was going to be the new Gardens World Garden. Maybe he thought so too. Also, being a nosey person, I wondered how he couldn’t afford it.

Was that the south Manchester one ? Must be. That's very local to me.

bowsaw · 23/04/2022 23:11

He mentioned a while back on instagram his wife had been very ill, they seem tight and with the design practice, school and all the other gigs he was probably seeing very little of his family,

It was a breath of fresh air when he was the main host and MD was off filming his other tv shows

LadyAnglerfish · 24/04/2022 10:04

Hopefully it hasn’t hurt his chances of taking over from Monty if that’s what they were planning. I agree with previous posters that seeing what he can do with a more “normal” garden will be exciting and inspiring for those of us without Monty’s acres (not that I don’t enjoy them).

ChurchlightJane · 24/04/2022 21:22

Sorry I don't understand the Gordon Cook comment. Who is Gordon Cook of Sale?

FrydayFish · 24/04/2022 21:54

Gordon Cooke is Mrs Cooke's son, keep up!

hattie43 · 24/04/2022 22:00

Booked tickets to see him in September, looking forward to it

NigellaAwesome · 24/04/2022 22:05

On a slight tangent, I once had a sex dream about Monty Don. I blush a little every time I watch GW.

Oh no, hope she's better now. I think he's lovely too.
As well as all the gardening and niceness, I also appreciate that he's a man who loves his cat.

Have I misremembered, but wasn't the big house rented? Didn't he say that when he first started doing the garden?

ZarquonsSandals · 24/04/2022 22:19

It'll be interesting to see a presenter with a garden a bit closer to that owned by the average Joe.

Wondering how much his old house sold for!

BlueAutumn · 24/04/2022 22:35

I’ll be watching, first time I’ve seen a garden with the same position as mine, don’t think he’ll have any problems, I only have a small portion that doesn’t get a lot of sun, so Hostas, Lily of the Valley, ferns etc., no probs.
