I just have, on my way back from walking the dog with a friend, a woman walked past and I was convinced it was my sister. In fact I stopped and was staring after her, wondering whether to call out her name. Then logic took over, she’d be 300 miles away from home, she’s not left London since the start of the pandemic, she would not ever surprise me like that. But blimey, I was so worried I came home and started madly tidying up in case she walked in!

My son has one at his school. Every day I think it's him.

Dumdeedahdumdeedo · 12/04/2022 13:16

4 but only in photo's. 2 of my sister's and one of myself, 1 of my ex

Each time everyone has also agreed their the double of said person. My exes it was a picture of man asleep in a bath, everyone believed it was him when I posted it on Facebook, despite the fact the man had tattoos and my ex doesnt

Mine is a girl on a tobacco pouch that says not to smoke around your children. She's in a hospital bed with a mask around her face. I sent it to everyone and everyone messaged back asking if I was okay and asking what had happened Blush

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/04/2022 13:22

When I was a teen at school there must've been someone who looked like me as people used to tell me they'd seen me at the weekend at a club/pub/ out. Even good friends.

Brightrainbow · 12/04/2022 13:24

My partner has one who’s a member of a fishing group
Take off my fellas glasses and they are twins

I went to school with a lass who was the image of me but I never saw her so I’m going by the word of others

JoyLurking9to5 · 12/04/2022 13:26

On holiday in a village in Wales, i was told i had one by two people.

WhatIsThisPlease · 12/04/2022 13:31

We once saw a man in wales who was the absolute double of my brother.

I took a sneaky photo to show brother and he couldn't believe it either!!

RozHuntleysLeftHand · 12/04/2022 13:42

I actually have one!
Never seen or met myself, but it started years ago when my Nan was convinced she'd seen me walking down the road, I wasn't.
Now for years I have had people shouting/bumping into me saying "Rachel how are you" at me.
It even happened when I started shaving the sides of my head and have a dread hawk.
Rachel is not my name.
Ive had friends tell me they tried to talk to me in the street and I was definitely nowhere near there.
It's bloody bizarre.

BertieBotts · 12/04/2022 13:42

I saw a man that looked exactly like my dad driving on the French border. He lives in England so it was unlikely. But it was so weird I texted him to check.

My mum saw a young woman who looked exactly like my cousin. It quite upset her because my cousin died suddenly a year and a half ago.

LubaLuca · 12/04/2022 13:47

Yes, I saw my mum at the races in Wetherby when she was overseas.

Notanotherwindow · 12/04/2022 13:56

Someone I worked with. We were forever getting confused customers coming up to us.

DrSbaitso · 12/04/2022 13:59

I've got one. Poor woman.

DressingPafe · 12/04/2022 14:04

Years ago I’d been shopping, went to the bus stop and came face to face with myself! What made it even more strange was the fact I was wearing a specific logo t shirt, and she was wearing the exact same one!

I so wished I’d said something but I was just so stunned and honestly a bit spooked. The bus came and the moment passed. It did make a lot of sense though as for ages people had been telling me they’d seen me somewhere I hadn’t been, or they’d said hello to me and I’d ignored them, that kind of thing.

I moved away from that town not long after so never saw her again. But all my family are from a rural town hundreds of miles away so unlikely to have been a relative. Plus I look a lot like my mum and I know my mum doesn’t have any “secret” children. Oh and my mums from abroad and her family are still there so not a cousin or anything. Very strange.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 12/04/2022 14:05

My husband says I had one. He always swears blind that he saw me in a record shop in our home town before we knew each other. I have an Australian accent and he remembered it. I had never been in that part of town let alone that shop.

My relative looks like someone famous. In fact we saw him in the distance in London once, and later on we told him we'd seen him. He said he wasn't there that day so it must have been the famous guy.

Soubriquet · 12/04/2022 14:10

Yes!

I’ve seen a clothing company online with a little girl dressed up in rainbows.

The girl looks identical to my friends daughter who is much more gothy.

She is now known as x’s rainbow twin.

The mum couldn’t believe the similarities

IAmMeThisIsI · 12/04/2022 14:12

Have a look on YouTube for "time travelling celebrities". There are loads of pictures from hundreds of years ago of famous people who are the spitting image of modern celebrities. It's a bit of fun and interesting.

Same thing happened to me with my own sister. I thought I saw her in town and I followed her into some office building. Lol.

NotthesameNotok · 12/04/2022 14:14

I had one. Never saw her myself but as a teenager it caused me absolute HELL

I have asd and had severe anxiety and school refusal and chronic fatigue.
I spent my days in the SN unit at my school on days I could get in.

One day I was feeling awful and needed to go home and a particular teacher shouted at me no wonder I was tired as she saw me doing my paper round that morning ??? I denied it obviously
She then said she saw me on other occasions and it got really out of hand she would shout at me I was a liar

It carried on for months !!!! She kept seeing her and convinced it was me and that I was faking all my issues at school my parents even had to go in for a meeting and they were questioned harshly ! It wasn’t me and it made my stress so much worse

MrsMoastyToasty · 12/04/2022 14:16

Not me but a former colleague reckoned she had one walking around Bath. My colleague had been adopted as a baby so it was possible that she had siblings.

Ormally · 12/04/2022 14:17

No, but I'm told I have one.

Most recently, I'd gone into a station coffee takeaway, that I use most weeks, and recognise the 2 or 3 employees that are usually working at that time. Early in the morning (about 3 hours before I'd walked in), 'I' had already gone in, bought coffee, and got a train!

TeapotCollection · 12/04/2022 14:17

Many years ago I was absolutely convinced I’d seen my boss in a shop looking at clothes. I walked up behind her and said “You won’t get your fat arse into that” (we were always trading insults)

Yes, you’ve guessed, it wasn’t her. Thankfully the lovely person took it well. She really was her double

HopefulProcrastinator · 12/04/2022 14:22

I saw mine on the train, she was a goth version of me and looked much better than I did I didn't do or say anything though.

The best famous one for me is James Brolin and Christian Bale. To the best of their knowledge there is zero familial crossover between them but Christian is the absolute spitting image of James Brolin at the same age...whereas Josh Brolin definitely isn't. I definitely went down a google trap after watching the original Amityville film completely convinced they were somehow related.

Sisteragatha · 12/04/2022 14:22

Yeah, I got off a train recently and saw my friends husband walking ahead of us. I’ve known him 20 years. He looked right through me and I said to my DH, what’s wrong with him omg, he hasn’t said hello!!!! He’s purposely ignored us!

We called my best friend and said, just seen your DH in town and he must be really drunk or avoiding us because he’s completely ignored us! Grin

She sent me a pic of him on the sofa snoring. Apparently this happens a lot to him so he must have an easily duplicated face!

Georgeskitchen · 12/04/2022 14:25

I have one in Australia apparently!! I was told this by a school friend who emigrated to Australia but came back a couple of years later 😄

majorquimby · 12/04/2022 14:26

Went to a gig with DH and some of his friends and we got chatting to another group of people that were there that one of them vaguely knew. One of the guys in the 'other' group was the spitting image of DH's mate, they could have been identical twins. Never met each other before and they were both astounded just stood there staring at each other, it was so odd, they were even wearing similar clothes. Lots of pictures were taken!

Michaelmonstera · 12/04/2022 14:27

My ex H’s friend was arrested by armed police as he was the spitting image of someone who had committed a robbery captured on CCTV. I think his name had been given to the police after someone he knew had seen a still of the footage. He said that he even did a doubletake when the police showed him the footage. Luckily, he had a good alibi for the time of the robbery.
