Blimey I feel old, Brooklyn Beckham is getting married

I just read that Brooklyn Beckham is getting married. I thought he would be about 15 years old, no he's 23 😁

I think Bob geldof has said he won't be leaving his estate to his children (or his whole estate) i know Fifi has a full time job in PR and lives in a flat, she doesn't court the media at all. I used to be friends with her on Insta and we have a mutual friend, for Xmas and birthdays Bob gives the girls around £300 of vouchers, which is less than a lot of mumsnetters and non multimillionares.

Gotta love Bob Geldof. The way he took on guardianship for Paula and Michael's daughter was truly admirable.

I'm sure there will be posh portaloos.ive been to a marque wedding sadly not of a billionaire ,but they had a toilet block and it was quite fancy considering it was a portaloo

If I were Nicola's family I would be unhappy about her marrying a waster like him

It’s a hard one really.

He doesn’t seem academic, yet he has tried different things, which haven’t worked out.
He’s very young, far too young to get married, he needs to live his twenties and find his feet and way in life, before settling down. He has the rest of his life to settle down into humdrum domesticity.
Probably better to pay his way through university and have something to build on instead of depending on Istagram as a livelihood.

I imagine her parent’s expectations are met as long as he isn’t after her money and doesn’t take drugs and he comes across as a nice enough guy.

Brand Beckham needs life, new blood and the best way is a new baby.

He's a dilettante.
They'll be divorced before he's 30, when he wakes up and realises that he's limited himself to just one pair of knickers only.

Having said that, I don’t understand how, with the best educations money can buy, and they went to some good schools, they haven’t been encouraged into non celeb careers. University and then law / accountancy / banking anything really where they could work professionally and where they could be successful

I don’t think age can predict a marriage lasting or not. More people I know that married ten years after us have split up than those who married younger. It depends on the relationship. I didn’t want to be having children in my 30s. Which is as it turned out a good thing, the only reason we were treated for miscarriages sooner than the usual 3 is because of our young age. Had we waited it would have been an even longer journey and less chance of success. Not everyone wants to spend their 20s acting like teenagers. I don’t regret getting married young at all it has worked very well for us.
This all sounded fine until you made the silly comment about teenagers.

In my circle of friends, nobody was married at 23 because we were all still at uni with another decade of specialist training still to follow. I was a carer for a terminally ill parent as well, and of course also working evenings to support myself through a long degree.

Getting married is not, in itself, evidence that one has grown up.

None of this means that I think 23 is too young - depends on the person and their life experience. I suppose if you’ve been out of formal education for a few years you’re in a different position to those who have just finished or are still completing their studies.

...because that would mean actually doing some tangible work 40 hours a week, being held accountable and following rules.

These spoilt rich kids are allergic to anything like normal work.

He ‘modelled’ for his Mums mates, unsuccessfully played football and is now suddenly a ‘chef’ and his Dad is best Nate’s with Gordon Ramsay.

Obviously has few talents and relies entirely on Mum & Dad to sort his life out for him.

I hope he and his wife will be happy together, but I suspect she’ll get bored very quickly.

Feel bad for him really. Not saying Victoria is majorly talented, it’s quite well known how shite she is at singing but she was in the biggest girl band on the planet. His Dad was obviously one of the best footballers of all time. Big boots to fill really and he just hasn’t… He seems like a wet lettuce really, so many ventures tried and failed. His latest one seems to be making sandwiches?

Now he’s married to a ‘model’ which is a blanket term used for many offspring of incredibly wealthy people because they seem unable to do anything else.

To be fair “domesticity” for these two is going to look very different to the “average” couple. So saying he should have been spreading his wings etc is irrelevant really. They have the money to travel the world and do what they want. I highly doubt they do any domestic chores themselves. No worries about paying bills etc. so they’re married now. It doesn’t change much in their situation. They have the pre nup, quickie divorce if it doesn’t work out. Very different to your average 23 year old.

I love Harper though she just looks like a child getting on with it and I really like that she is am I allowed to say? Tom boyish. I really thought Victoria would have her dressed as a little Dolly.
I also think Harper is really cute and natural too. I don't think Brooklyn is attractive at all.
