An earlyish lowish green sent me down a rabbit hole so messed around for ages then eventually got loads of greens until inspiration hit me when washing up (not a hint!).

I solved Semantle #69 in 116 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -2.25. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #29. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 27.04 (679/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #69 in 42 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 0.39. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #19. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 23.96 (362/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I think this might be my best one yet, certainly we'll below my average (155!). Like a few others, I found it quite satisfying to work my way up through some related greens.

I solved Semantle #69 in 61 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 17.94. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #20. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 16.25. semantle.novalis.org/

I went round the houses a bit and was on the wrong kind of track for ages until a seemingly unlikely synonym shifted my focus and then it was fairly quick.

I think you're right in general, Spudlet - although there's also a problem with the data because even with a concrete concept like 'bat', people can be mislead because there wasn't much sensible relating to the animal (iirc bird had a highish score but mammal was cold).

I wonder if the game would be more or less fun if the training was done using a dictionary and maybe a thesaurus as input - there would be synonyms and antonyms but also context from the definitions and usage examples, and full coverage of different meanings. Maybe it would make it too easy.

Blooming heck Gave up yesterday. 87 in today and not a green to be had ...

I didn't get anything scoring over 20 before the solution. I'd tried my usual 'starter' words, and couldn't see any theme emerging from the high teens words but I thought of a word which might be applied to most of them.

Only green I've got is 69/1000 and no relating words are green. Today's is a head scratcher! How are you all doing?

I solved Semantle #69 in 57 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 8.38. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #2. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 40.53 (980/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Much easier today, with much more obvious logic/connections between the words. It helped that my second guess took me to 379 and my fourth to 633, so set me on the right track. Got stuck for ages at 998 till I found the right synonym.

Another one I thought was relatively straightforward once I'd found the theme. Took a bit of thinking to find the right word but am getting closer to bringing my average guesses to under 100. Currently 106.

69 is a word which is quite commonly used with the target word, not a synonym. Think of what you might need to 69. There might be a word or two in your higher scoring non-greens which would go with 69 which might help.

TBH I don't really think 790 will help much. Any other greens?

Those sort of things might be described as 1000s. But so can other quite different sorts of things, I don't think you need more examples of that particular type.
