@WeCouldBeSpearows wow well done! I have to say todays word is definitely one of the ones most likely to be guessed outright that I’ve seen for a while

Or it could just be genuinely random. There are thousands of 5 letter words. The NY Times say that they use a randomly chosen word from the original list put together by the creator and his wife, who split 12000 5 letter words into words they know, words they might know and those they don't to get down to about 2300 words.

Obviously some of these will be easier than others, have more or less common letters with other words and fit in better or worse with popular starting words.

Well that was cocky of me. Thought I didn’t need an elimination word.
