I’m finding it quite frustrating at the moment that there are often so many options with just one or two letters different. Eg a couple of days back I got to six guesses after getting all but one letter right on line 2. Something like SHARE STARE SPARE SNATE SCARE. Recall the same for eg MOUND HOUND SOUND POUND ROUND WOUND FOUND BOUND etc as one of those came up too. Makes it all about pure luck not skill, v annoying.

You need to play the elimination game, sonic. For SHARE STARE SPARE SNARE SCARE you want to know which of H, T, P, N or C are correct. Put in PATCH and it will tell you which of the 4 options are correct (and if none of them are then it's the fifth, by process of deduction) so you get to the answer in two (guess then answer) instead of a possible five.

But in the case of a word like xOUND you guess a word like phasm to eliminate possible options. That's not really pure luck.

@DropYourSword it depends on whether they are playing in hard mode or not, as in hard mode you can't use different letters to those that have been chosen before, so it can be tough if you get a word that has multiple choices.

Great tip on here yesterday to put X in place of unknown letters. Did that today whilst playing with the order of the confirmed ones and it jumped out at me.

It's normal mode for me.

I mean play the not hard version

I play the easier , not hard version

@LosingTheWill2022 I do. I used to play it like that without realising it was an option in the game, you can select it in the settings. You can see by the at the end of the "Wordle 297 4/6" that it is in hard mode.
