Since weve almost managed to fill our 6th thread I thought I should start the next so we have somewhere to sc

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

We tend to use the threads to rant about how we're getting nowhere, celebrate our successes and laugh about the previous day's top 1000 but please, no spoilers. Subtle hints only here; use DMs for more obvious clues.

I solved Semantle #62 in 138 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 4.15. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #41. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 11.87. semantle.novalis.org/

Took me 41 guesses to get a very low green, and was well over 100 before I found another higher one. Interesting double meaning and words I’d have thought might be higher were lurking in the 20.00 range.

Just looked at the word list and, not for the first time, am baffled at this game. Quite a lot of high greens that would have sent me totally off course, and not many I associate with the word.

That is a nice change. I solved Semantle #62 in 28 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.02. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #13. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 31.13 (916/1000).

After getting there I tried two direct synonyms for the word and both were cold so I can see why if you don’t follow one path you would get stuck.

I solved Semantle #62 in 154 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -5.63. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #47. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 19.66. semantle.novalis.org/

It’s a word that can be a noun, adjective or verb. Only synonyms and related words to one of those will help though - I think that’s why some people are finding it easy and others are stuck.

I got 989 early on but it took about 90 more guesses to get a higher green - 995 - although plenty of lowers - and I'm still getting nowhere!

Got there almost accidentally in the end. Now I can sort of see how it was related to my other greens, but I wasn't really heading in a correct or logical direction. Once again, that god for relatedwords.org!
