It depends on the clothing that I'm shopping for.
I live in jeans and t.shirts so mainly any clothes shops which sell Levi jeans.
I don't have a particular favourite, I just buy what I like as I see it, regardless of the shop.

Enko · 30/03/2022 17:37

Sahara London pomodoro White company pure collection if in sale marmara weekend

Daisydoesnt · 30/03/2022 17:39

Me+Em
Wyse
Anthropologie

These are all happy hunting grounds at the moment.

Enko · 30/03/2022 17:41

Oh and mudra (just got an email )

stripeyflowers · 30/03/2022 17:50

Nowhere and anywhere. Just google what I want and buy the one I like from wherever. Although, I am actually not as really got no incentive to shop for clothes and haven't since lockdown. Rarely go into a clothes shop these days. Used to love rummaging through charity but can't stand it now. Sigh.

Notreallyhappy · 30/03/2022 18:08

Kaleidoscope online, next JL..
What suits me not what's in fashion

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/03/2022 18:22

Shopping for an age group? In my 50s now and shop in the same places I shopped before, as I dress how I dressed before!. (All Saints, Jigsaw, Me&Em, Vivienne Westwood, Forgotten Tribes, in the main. A smattering of Reiss, and generally M&S for underwear).

Rubyupbeat · 30/03/2022 18:34

Anywhere, as long as the clothing is very good quality. Age shouldn't matter.
I also make a lot of my clothes.

Jellykat · 30/03/2022 18:42

Mainly ebay for Masai and Biba
H&M
M&S for Jeggings
Charity shops
Zara
I mix and match. and have a lot of vintage stuff.. plus things ive had for over 20 years (like Leopard skin coats) luckily im the same size as then.

dudsville · 30/03/2022 18:55

Everyone's going to be different. We don't all change shops according to age group.

Kitkat151 · 30/03/2022 19:26

I have recently been clothes shopping in Leeds....lovely jacket fromjoes browns....quirky dungarees from Oliver Bonas....summer dress from Next.....spring dress from Zara...,some knickers from matalan

slavetothekittens · 30/03/2022 19:38

Charity shops mainly.

I'm late fifties and not very conventional, at present I'm wearing black and white leggings that came from a charity shop and a Korn hoodie which I bought in Afflecks Palace I think.

Essexexile · 30/03/2022 19:48

I’m heading towards my late 50’s but am only 5 feet tall and a 12/14 depending where I buy from.
Jeans and casual trousers generally from Fat Face as they do a petite length. Tops and hoodies Fat Face, most other clothes from Next, White Stuff, Shein for dresses (although they’re a bit cheap & cheerful). I struggle with expensive brands due to my size & height.

EmmaStone · 30/03/2022 19:59

I'm late 40s, and find most shopping leaves me feeling a bit uninspired, with a sea of badly cut man made fabrics across all stores and brands.

However, I can always find something I like, in natural fabrics, flattering cuts and realistic pricing at Cos.

JL to look across different brands.

Zara for something a bit more fashion led.

Not in my local cities, but I love a mooch in Massimo Dutti and Uniqlo. I'd like to give Arket a try, but it's a bit like Cos I think, in terms of needing to try lots on, it's not an instant win, and when I'm in the area I don't have time for that kind of shopping.

My colleague looks great in Mint Velvet, but I can't quite bring myself to pay their prices for polyester.

Tigerblue · 30/03/2022 20:06

Mid 50s. Next, M&S, sometimes H&M and Primark. These are the first shops I come across if I get the bus or walk, so more convenient especially if I've got other things to get. If more time, I sometimes to White Stuff and Gap.

SFisnotsimple · 30/03/2022 20:09

54
I like Uniqlo and Zara mainly

Libertybear80 · 30/03/2022 20:11

Jigsaw, John Lewis, whistles.

Riverlee · 30/03/2022 20:11

I’m in my 50s and find now that I choose clothes that I like, irrespective of the brand. At present, I have a Next jumper, old top shop leggings and a M and S top.

Wagsandclaws · 30/03/2022 20:22

I'm 50 and bought loads of stuff in M and S today.

I'm a 16/18 with small legs but a big tummy and boobs, there was the most divine dress in an Aqua colour from their autograph range which I'm hoping to dress down a bit and lots of linen bits that I love.

I like the white company too but normally only in the sale, tu Sainsbury's sometimes has a little gem or two and h and m delivered some pure silk joggers today for me which were the cheapest over ever seen at £79.

I'm into lots of looks that are usually simple - too many shoes, ranging from Russel and Bromley to Shein.

Purely depends on your aesthetic really.

thegcatsmother · 30/03/2022 20:44

Brakeburn, Fat Face, Joules, Seasalt, Boden, Tchibo, M&S, Lands End, Pure, Toast

HardRockOwl · 30/03/2022 20:49

This is tricky to answer because not all 50+ women like the same thing

I'm 50 and I wear Sweaty Betty, Lululemon, Hush and Arket. I never wear shoes - always trainers which are Veja or Alexander McQueen.

I wouldn't be seen dead in fat face or sea salt or that tribes one. But then, there's other posters on here that wouldn't be seen dead in my choice of clothing

TheHoptimist · 30/03/2022 21:18

Late 50s
Started going physically shopping again (had stopped on gone on line way before covid)
Maxmara
Marella
Paul Smith (trainers and coats)
Community Clothing
Would have said Cos but went today and it was really crap- too much cheap faded black fabric- cv19 seems to have hit their quality badly
Anything that grabs my attention
But I also have a lot (a lot) of clothes that I have had for 10 plus years and still wear.

brokengoalposts · 30/03/2022 22:09

@TheOrigRights

I heard on the radio the other day that over 53's shouldn't wear jeans,

What the hell station was that? And what happens at 53?

I'll have you know that I look great in my skinny flares. I am tall and slim and if I wear a small heel by legs look 8 foot long. So there.

Google "jeans over 53", it was a study about 5/6 years ago. They can non off mind, I ain't ditching my jeans ever, I look fabulous in them, lol
Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 30/03/2022 22:43

I like loose fitting clothes made with natural fabrics in neutral or jewel colours. The brands I buy from most frequently are:
Poetry - lovely linens, cottons & cashmere
Toast - have to careful here as Im short & it their cuts can swamp me
White Company - I like the look but quality is dubious
Eileen Fisher - expensive but great cuts and basics and have good sales in places like Fenwick
Thought - very good for inexpensive basics
and if I want something special or occasion wear I'll look at Matches or Net a Porter.

I googled. Calling that a study is pushing it a bit! Survey would be more accurate.
