NC because this post will definitely be recognisable to friends that have spoken about this recently (👋🏻 If you’re reading).

We were talking about different things that appear in different places in the country.

Where you live, can you order:

  • Spice on your chips (not salt & pepper chips, or chilli chips, but Chip Spice),
  • A pizza platter, or,
  • Lemony minted cabbage?

And where are you? Grin

Never heard of anyone. From South London, live in Yorkshire , have lived in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire plus abroad.

userxx · 23/03/2022 07:08

I'm up north and spice is readily available, usually in Piccadilly gardens, it's not something that goes on chips though.

Subbaxeo · 23/03/2022 07:10

Hull-Chip Spice! Wonderful stuff.

pumpkinpie01 · 23/03/2022 07:12

None of them - in the midlands. Like the sound of them though !

skippy67 · 23/03/2022 07:15

Not heard of any of those. South London.

supadupapupascupa · 23/03/2022 07:17

Not heard of the cabbage unless you mean the stuff in a dinner kebab which is heaven.

Chip spice and pizza platter in my home town

SiobhanSharpe · 23/03/2022 07:17

Cambridge. Not heard of any of those, I'm afraid. They all sound great!

supadupapupascupa · 23/03/2022 07:17

Oh and north east Lincs

longwayoff · 23/03/2022 07:18

Chip spice? What is this miraculous stuff and where can I find some? You can keep the pizza and cabbage thanks.

DaisyWaldron · 23/03/2022 07:19

Yorkshire. I can get chip spice, but have never heard of a pizza platter as a specific order or lemony minted cabbage (but the cabbage sounds like something I want to try).

supadupapupascupa · 23/03/2022 07:19

I REALLY want a pizza platter now!!!! Chicken and mushroom with extra Tom sauce please. Would even spice your chips!

Platter is half pizza, with fries and coleslaw. Heaven

SulisMinerva · 23/03/2022 07:20

Chip spice is one of my favourite things discovered at uni many years ago.

Never heard of the others though!

TheGreatFoodDivide · 23/03/2022 07:21

@supadupapupascupa

You can get chip spice on Amazon
Original American Chip Spice Red Salt Shaker with Paprika by American Chip Spice www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01H2SRCEY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_K7MD59MR7QYXB6ACAA3B?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

siriusblackcat · 23/03/2022 07:28

Chip spice is the dogs bollocks.
I hate getting fries from a takeaway elsewhere in the country as they're crap without.

Horcruxe · 23/03/2022 07:28

We call it red salt.

And can get it

NeverDropYourMooncup · 23/03/2022 07:31

I'm interested in finding out more about the lemony minted cabbage?

megletthesecond · 23/03/2022 07:33

Never heard of them. I'm in Hampshire.

hellcatspangle · 23/03/2022 07:37

Never heard of any of those

picklemewalnuts · 23/03/2022 07:38

None of them. East Mids and S Wales.

hellcatspangle · 23/03/2022 07:38

Schwartz do a chip seasoning which looks like it has the same ingredients though, I use that at home!

MrsGHarrison87 · 23/03/2022 07:43

Not heard of the others but I think chip spice is called red salt where I'm from. But you can only get it from takeaways that do pizzas/ kebabs/ fried chicken. Not chippies. Liverpool.

EatSleepReplete · 23/03/2022 07:44

We can get chip spice, they call it red salt here. I didn't know it had MSG in though!
Can't get the other two. The cabbage sounds like something I'd eat, is it a salad type of thing?

Yorkshire.

RaininSummer · 23/03/2022 07:45

Never heard of any of those goods but they sound nice. Essex and south west here.
