Semantle thread 4 is almost full and there's still plenty of love (and hate 🤣) for the game, so here's a new thread for Sunday's game.

If you're lucky enough not to know what I'm on about Semantle is a word game like Wordle. You need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics, not letters. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

754 is useful. Think of it in terms of 754 it to the man rather than a physical 754

Please could someone send me a clue? I'm stuck on 978. Can't think of any other similar words.

@RoxieLoxy 978 isn’t super helpful imho. Incredibly difficult to formulate a clue from anyway! Do you have any lower greens?

Oh yes, the target word is an antonym of 978. Grief I’m dense tonight, I should probably shut up entirely!

Got it more from clues on here than any word association skills I think, so thank you everyone!

I solved Semantle #50 in 144 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 25.74. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #27. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 22.43. semantle.novalis.org/

That was difficult. Turns out I was only guessing antonyms, lots and lots of antonyms! As soon as I changed to the opposite I got it.

I'm up to 994 now AND learnt a new word haha

@RoxieLoxy when two things that 994 get close, what does each of them do?

I finally pressed the 'give up button.

Thanks @InMySpareTime. I've got a couple more greens from that clue but not a higher one. Next highest is now 991.

I thought I'd tried this word ages ago but obviously not.
Somehow jumped from 979 to the target word which was a welcome surprise as bored of trying today.

I solved Semantle #50 in 172 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 26.04. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #13. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 19.48. semantle.novalis.org/

Nope still not getting it. But too stubborn to give up.

i think it is positive

Interesting word list today with lots of high scoring antonyms plus words that go with the target word in common idioms.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz if the subject of 991 were cake, what would you have to do?
