Does your partner, husband or wife look like you?

I’m reading about lookalike couples!
I met a colleague’s husband fir the first time today and couldn’t believe how similar they looked. They could easily pass as twins never mind siblings.

So, does your’s look like you? Mine doesn’t at all! Do you think it’s common? This couple is the only one I’ve met that does.

Here are some reasons just out of interest...

I have two friends and their partners look similar looking to their sisters! I remember at one of the weddings been taken back now similar his sister and the bride looked!
My brother in law is very similar in personality to my Dad! And his brothers wife is a clone of my sister!! Both my sister and her SIL have very similar features and personalities.

I guess it’s like people say it could just be subconscious at play on who we are drawn to.
@FlippyFloppyFlappy I’m also rubbish at guessing! It’s so so creepy!
Really is, is it a mix of vanity and liking the familiarity? I'd just find it so odd if I knew a couple who looked so similar to each other.

Rosehugger · 13/03/2022 09:10

No, he's more rounded, much paler skin, freckles, burns easily, different hair colour, has to wear glasses.

But we have some similarities. I was born at nearly midnight, DH at nearly midday, both exactly the same birth weight, same blood group, we got exactly the same GCSE, A-Level results and degree classification - different subjects though, we aren't that weird.

Rarenamer · 13/03/2022 09:11

@PinkNails1 that IG account is scary!

I think more people look like their spouse than they realise, I have friends who have the same shape mouth & nose or eyes as their husbands, or dimples in the cheeks when they smile which makes they look more alike than they realise. Smile

PinkNails1 · 13/03/2022 09:12

@FlippyFloppyFlappy I think it’s unconscious (or maybe conscious) narcissism. It can’t have an evolutionary benefit because you would be at risk of having inbred offspring! I bet these couples are second or third cousins or something.

DinosApple · 13/03/2022 09:14

Nope, not at all.

I'm pale skinned, freckly and burn easily (despite being mixed heritage), with dark brown eyes, and very dark brown straight hair. Average height for a woman.

DH is about 6ft, light brown/grey curly hair, blue eyes. White, but tans easily.

There are more similarities between DH and DBros girlfriend really. Perhaps me and bro have a type 🤔.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 13/03/2022 09:16

I agree, some of them are way too alike.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 13/03/2022 09:24

DH and I are both tall, blue-eyed and thin, very fair-skinned, with a similar sort of bony facial structure, although different hair colour. DC the same, and teenage DD in particular looks exactly like me - tall and blonde - to the point that I have had times over the years when people have laughed when I have come to collect her and said 'There's no doubt whose mum you are!'

I have been quietly interested to see that (6ft2, blue-eyed etc) DS has a very definite 'type' which is pretty much the opposite of the rest of us. All his girlfriends so far have been tiny with long dark hair, big brown eyes and very pretty, feminine faces.

ChelseeDagger · 13/03/2022 09:30

No, not at all.
He is short, stocky and muscular and slightly rotund with fair, freckled skin.

I'm tall and slim with a pale olive complexion.

We both have dark blonde/light brown hair and blue eyes though.

Titsflyingsouth · 13/03/2022 10:16

I hope not, as he has a very thick and luxuriant beard...

🤣🤣 The question is, If you also had a thick luxuriant beard, would you look like him? 🤣🤣

Yep we do, my friend once told me it meant I was a massive narc because I was attracted to someone who looked just like me. 😂 Maybe she was a secret MNer.

NinaDefoe · 13/03/2022 10:29

Oh wow. The Siblings or Dating page on Instagram.
I got every one I looked at wrong! The actual siblings look more different to each other than the dating couples.

No
DH- dark hair, bright blue eyes, naturally tans easily, muscular build, 6ft, large features, beard.
Me- blonde, green eyed, slim, average height, small features, pale skinned.

MrsGHarrison87 · 13/03/2022 11:01

Not really. Both white with dark hair but he's a lot taller than me and got quite large distinctive facial features.

tokyo1 · 13/03/2022 11:01

No, we're from different backgrounds, mine being mixed. We do definitely have a similar 'style' though so I think we look complimentary but not alike.

Camomila · 13/03/2022 11:08

Not at all, we are different ethnicities and he has a shaved head whereas I have long curly hair.

Calandor · 13/03/2022 12:37

No. I know a lot of people who do though.

Me and DP are quite different - I'm slightly curvy, dark hair, light eyes, short. He's tall, slim, bright ginger, dark eyes. My features are cutesy/snubby and his are long and elegant. I tan he burns etc.
