Does your partner, husband or wife look like you?

I’m reading about lookalike couples!
I met a colleague’s husband fir the first time today and couldn’t believe how similar they looked. They could easily pass as twins never mind siblings.

So, does your’s look like you? Mine doesn’t at all! Do you think it’s common? This couple is the only one I’ve met that does.

Here are some reasons just out of interest...

DH and I have been mistaken for siblings several times, and asked if we were twins on one occasion. Not so much in recent years (perhaps because he's aging better than I am!).

One of our children looks very like him (a girl, and when we did the gender swap app and showed it to DH's mum, she thought it was a picture of him as a kid). One looks very like me. The two of them are obviously siblings. Our other child doesn't look like any of us - to the extent that they are halfway through secondary school and many teachers don't know he is related to the other two (one of whom is his twin).

sofakingcool · 13/03/2022 08:14

Kind of..

We're both very similar colouring - blonde - although mines got a slightly red tint to it. Both have grey-blue eyes and both relatively tall (5ft 7 and 6ft)

Facially we're different though, I have soft features whereas DH has sharper ones

MondeoFan · 13/03/2022 08:15

Facially we don't look alike. growing up my dad was very slim - size 28 waist so that's the type of body in a man I've always gone for. DH is very slim, same size as my dad as to me that is normal but they are not alike facially.

JammyCandy · 13/03/2022 08:17

Yes lots of similarities

stimpyyouidiot · 13/03/2022 08:22

We both have exactly the same colouring (dark hair and eyes) and are similar ish height. We've had comments before that we look similar but I think that's because we have the same colours, we don't facially look alike at all.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 13/03/2022 08:25

No 🤔 opposite eye and hair colour, he's taller and heavier than me, our face shapes aren't similar.

Trinacham · 13/03/2022 08:25

We have similarities - blue eyes, similar height (he's a few inches taller), similar hair colour. But don't think we look alike.

Claymorekick · 13/03/2022 08:26

Not me and DH but I have a colleague who posts a lot of photos on Facebook of him and his wife - they could easily pass for twins Shock there was one face to face one and they were identical apart from the hair Confused interestingly neither of their DC look like them though- totally different hair colour for a start.

Kinsters · 13/03/2022 08:36

Not at all - he's asian and I'm white. I have one friend who looks so much like her DH though!

Chakraleaf · 13/03/2022 08:38

No.
He's skinny, I'm chubby
I'm 5ft he is 6ft 6
I'm brunette and dark eyes
He is blonde blue eyes

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 13/03/2022 08:43

Both pale with blue eyes and freckles, but we have very different facial shapes, body shapes, features etc

PinkNails1 · 13/03/2022 08:44

It’s not about build (which will obviously be different) but rather your facial features.

DP and I are completely different races so we look nothing alike. I think it’s creepy when people resemble their OH’s siblings/cousins.

You should check out “Siblings Or Dating” on Instagram.

LubaLuca · 13/03/2022 08:46

No, not at all, we don't share any features. Our children are all like an average of us - none as tall as their dad but not as short as me, neither blonde nor dark in colouring, faces not as round as mine or as angular as their dad's...

CoffeeCakeChill · 13/03/2022 08:48

When we were younger people used to say we looked like siblings including my mum!
Dh came on a big family holiday when i was around 20 and he was 24 and there is a picture taken of all the family and we have the same shaped face and chin as my mum and sister. Both dark hair same skin tone blue eyes.
Read your article and someone actually said to me once that me and dh look like siblings and its an ego thing so your kids look like you...and my dc looks nothing like me haha shes blonde with green eyes!

PurBal · 13/03/2022 08:51

Yes. Slightly awkwardly my brother and DH look similar (10 years between them) and have been mistaken for one another.

Xigris · 13/03/2022 08:53

DH and I are from totally different parts of the planet so look nothing like each other. My sister on the other hand married someone who could be her twin. Even OUR OWN MOTHER thought one of his baby photos was her Grin. They’ve got a DD who looks just like the pair of them. It’s all very weird, like they were cloned in a Petri dish or something.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 13/03/2022 08:55

Just had a look on there, I don't think I got one correct out of 20 pictures 🤣
Muppetlove · 13/03/2022 08:56

@NoLunch I laughed out loud at your last sentence

DH and I have very similar face and body architecture.

I know a couple who look ridiculously alike.

ComDummings · 13/03/2022 08:56

As @PinkNails1 says, check out Siblings or Dating on Instagram! Some of the dating couples look so eerily similar.

lugeforlife · 13/03/2022 08:58

My bil and his wife are insanely similar - same colouring, bone structure and build. Only difference is height as she's mid height and he's tall.

Dh and I have the same nose and cheek bones. Poor old Dd2 does too. Dd1 has managed to get the cheek bones but not the nose which is an excellent result for her.

Crazykatie · 13/03/2022 08:59

It’s natural enough to have a similar style partner, I’m a casual dresser, jeans and a top, waist coat or jacket, hardly ever a skirt. My new partner dressed down to match were both cuddly body shape and do look like a couple, everyone is very surprised we’re not married.

PinkNails1 · 13/03/2022 09:01

@Gwenhwyfar

I wonder if there's an evolutionary reason, maybe subconsciously thinking the genes are compatible?
Surely this would going against nature as it could be a sign of inbreeding and making the gene pool smaller?
PinkNails1 · 13/03/2022 09:02

@FlippyFloppyFlappy I’m also rubbish at guessing! It’s so so creepy!

FlamingoYellow · 13/03/2022 09:03

We don't look like each other but he looks very similar to my dad. He also has a very similar personality to my dad. I did mention it to bf in the end and luckily he thought it was sweet and said my dad sounds like he was a wonderful person so it's a huge compliment. It could've been a very awkward conversation if he thought it was weird!

SunflowerSmith · 13/03/2022 09:04

I don't look like my husband at all but years ago I had a long term boyfriend who was very similar looking to me, what made it more intriguing was that we were born on the same day, same year and in the same hospital.
