Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I've just got 993!! So I'm getting there... not sure where 'there' is...

258 guesses in...

I got nothing even close for 40 guesses, then got 962, and everything I’ve tried related to 962 is cold again.

I’ve tried everything related to 962 I can think of, no idea where to go next

I’ve now got 30 green words but no closer!

I went from 898 to 993, so no help here. And I can't think of anything I haven't tried.

I solved Semantle #38 in 83 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 4.49. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #14. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 44.70 (993/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Huh kind of anticlimactic.
The words I try get ever more exotic and interesting as I run out of main stream words. Then...

Can I have a hint from 984? I'm well over 300 guesses and getting nowhere fast.

@InMySpareTime did you get 943? That's the highest I got before the answer but it seemed a logical step from there

No, nearest I have after 984 is 932 and 928. I'll go back to random and attack it a new way..

Got it in 326. The early greens sent me down the wrong path!

Another one stuck on 962 and almost ready to give up. Can't think of any more synonyms/antonyms or even vaguely related words.

I've got 997 and still can't get it! I play during the night feeds and I'm so tired because I stay up playing when I should really get back to sleep.

If you have word 943 go from there instead.

Yes please do! I’m on 997 and I think I have used up every word I actually know. And some I have made up.
