Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

@squirrelnutkins1 THANK YOOUUUU! I have used every word bar that one around 996! I have looked at one looking for inspiration! Everything in it or around it...except for it!

Wow, @squirrelnutkins1 your hint worked for me even though the closest I’d found before was 971! Thanks so much, I was on completely off track with my thinking after that one for ages (loads of time thinking, very few guesses as I drew such a blank).

I solved Semantle #37 in 19 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -2.64. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #6. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 8.96. semantle.novalis.org/

The closest I've got is 847. Really struggling with todays!

I solved Semantle #37 in 57 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.47. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #9. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 20.32. semantle.novalis.org/

As usual I skirted around the edges of that word 🤦🏼‍♀️ I really need to up my game!

I am at least better at wordle haha I usually get that in 2 or 3 😬

I solved Semantle #37 in 41 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.71. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #3. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 20.85. semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #37 in 87 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -1.88. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #7. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 24.24 (549/1000).

I'm surprised I didn't get it sooner, was sure I'd tried that word in a different context, but maybe that was yesterday.

@darmar 847 isn't very helpful, unless you're considering it with a lot of other handy words!

I finally solved one completely on my own (my other successes were either complete accidents or I had hints)!!

Ah all the others I've got are similar words. I've been going down that route but I knew I was probably way off.
The only green ones I've got are 226,719,767,794. That's what's out me down that route.

Ooh thanks for this. I'd never heard of Nerdle. I've just shared it with my maths mad DS and yes he beat me to the correct answer. I still got it though 🤗
