Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I'm at 987 and seeing a definite theme, but not quite there yet.

Stuck on 225. Every related word I try is close, but lower.

For those that got it, would you agree the world has multiple meaning but the game only really seemed to focus on one?

I tried afterwards putting in some related words for a different meaning which none were green words.

Yesterday's? I can't even remember what the word was now! Hang on.

Oh yes. Selection. I think all the meanings are linked.

Or do you mean today's has two meanings?

Today's has a lot of meanings, I hardly ever use it in the context they focussed on, but then I'm British and a scientist so don't have the cultural background of the game creator.

Got 898 on my second guess and it’s all downhill from there😂

For yesterday's, I am really disappointed that chocolate and box were both cold!

For today's, I went for a really simple word that seemed to follow from a short chain of related cold words. And it was the word!
Looking back at what's in the top 1000, and glad I didn't get caught up in it!

I'm on 140 guesses and still only in the 700s ☹️ I'm sensing a definite theme but cannot think of any more words. Please can someone dm me a clue maybe in 800s or early 900s?
