Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Thank you, but I don't actually have 980. My highest is still 958.

@MrsElm how do you get to the next 958?

So annoying. I hit lucky on my third guess at 951 but now been stuck here for 50 guesses.

Anyone got a hint in the 9602/970s that they can PM me?

Just got it in 221. Once I've been stuck for ages I just start again with lots of random words and I managed to get to 990 in one go. Just through luck. I'd have not guessed it from the word I was stuck on at 886.

That felt harder than it was!

The cold words don't seem random to me and I like the fun of going up through the cold until you hit the first green!

Yesterday was confusing, I got stuck in a hunting (animal hunting) theme for ages. Then I realised it was sport related, there were some cricket related words too and then I was trying to think of baseball lingo, got "pitcher" and then couldn't think of the other role and settled for "hitter" :o but that was my second top answer in the end!

I am OK with hints on the thread if they relate to words in the top 1000, given by the word number. I think if people want to hint generally or give a green word then PM is best - that's what we did on the last thread :)

Honestly I have no clue. I thought the context was sport or competition. I am seriously considering giving up. I do actually have stuff I need to accomplish today 🤣

I read this thread in the hope for clues! Really struggling today, keep skirting around but not identifying a theme.

It's tricky giving clues, finding the balance between helpfulness and spoilers.

Is there anyone willing to pm me answers. I'd like to know the answer to No. 31 but can't find it online. Also yesterdays which I got to 997 but can't get any further.

Got 803 at guess 34 and nothing since. Firing random words at it now.

I completely agree. I ask for a clue because I am stuck. Then once the clue enables me to get it on the next few guesses, I think, should I have been able to get it myself! And once I have got it, I think that any clue I give will give it away!
