Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Think about it in conjunction with your higher word.

In fairness I had that word since 7am and have only just got the final word now

Well it hasn't helped me at all!

DP got this, was a family effort

I solved Semantle #36 in 75 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 8.00. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #10. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 54.97 (996/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I’ve managed to find 837 and 945 and can see how they’re related but none of the other words that fit into that theme are even in the top 1000! There must be a meaning to 945 I’m not thinking of, it’s so frustrating!

I solved Semantle #36 in 89 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.66. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #50. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 11.70. semantle.novalis.org/

I'm stuck on 945 as well and none of these clues are igniting my brain sadly. I'm clearly too dense for this game - I blame menopause- I used to be intelligent 😂

I was a bit worried at one point that I was going to get to 100 guesses without a green word. But once I got into the top thousand I managed it ok, and for the first time I didn't use a thesaurus at all!

Gah!! I got the hint above to take me into the 900s from cold, and that’s as far as I’ve got!! This game is marmite….
