Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Over 100 guesses and my only green is 472 which doesn't seem very helpful

I guessed ‘toad’ yesterday and got green 564, which was my highest answer. I then tried a few toad related answers which were all either low green or cold. Then decided I would go with toad in the hole and tried batter which took me straight to 944. I couldn’t work out how there could possibly be 380 toad in the hole related words!

I of course then wasted numerous guesses on food related items and then moved on to violence related words

I have trieeed soooo many for today but can’t get any greens at all and half mine are in the minuses. Any hint toward a theme or other vague clue would be great if someone wouldn’t mind PMing me!!

Had a couple of days where I didn't have the patience and gave up, but stuck with it today and was rewarded.

I solved Semantle #36 in 101 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 11.85. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #67. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 58.95 (997/1000).

That was really hard. So many 'cold' words.

It's related to those but not a synonym.

Yesterday I went down the route of wing, pigeon, bird and other flying things eventually getting it that way, which is just as well because I didn't know what half the sporting words were.

Just starting today's one...
