Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

333 and 181 are helpful, if you have those.
I don't have those. I had a few related to 477 which I fear may have sent me on a wild goose chase, and others that seem related to 661.

The fact that quite a few people got it quite quickly suggests it's not at all obscure!

It can be a kind of 661 but has other more wholesome uses that people like to watch at the right time of year.

I solved Semantle #35 in 62 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.43. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #45. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 37.43 (864/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Hmph...well, I'd have said some of the words I tried which didn't appear in the top 1000 were more closely related than some of the ones which did.

I solved Semantle #35 in 215 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 17.90. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #41. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 15.02. semantle.novalis.org/

I went straight from 564 to 944 but am now completely stumped! None of my themes seem to work

I solved Semantle #35 in 61 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 11.14. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #42. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 15.42. semantle.novalis.org/

What was yesterdays please? I was a stuck on about 150 and left it and forgot to go back later in the day!

Aaaargh. This is my first time playing and I'm completely stuck on 849. At almost 100 guesses and think I might have to give up. But I want to do it!!

Ooh I'm glad there's a thread about semantle it's been driving me mad so I'm placemarking.

Took me 125 today, I had a couple earlier in the week that I got quite quickly, but there has also been more than one give up and a few that took over 200 guesses.

Looking back at the list, I can see absolutely no connection between the word I was stuck at, and the words above it! I would never have got it without the clue.

I don't feel like the green words helped at all today it was a total fluke that I got it.

@fancyfrogs if you click the ? On the top right of the Semantle page and scroll through the text it will always tell you yesterday's word at the very bottom.

I'm stumped today. Please can someone give me a clue in the 900s that is actually helpful, lol, as I'm confused by my ones and have run out of words to try.

@Alwaystired99 imagine the same action as is used with 849 but in a leisure context. Less flat and more rounded.
