Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

It's tricky. I'm about to muse, look away now if you don't want musings which may inadvertently nudge you in a helpful or indeed unhelpful direction...

There are some really specific words that would suggest a field that ties all the words together.
But the target word isn't that specific.
So many of the words appear to bear no relation to each other or worse, to be related in an entirely unhelpful way.
If you aren't in the specialist field, then the theme you've spotted isn't the right theme.

Oh, just got it, that came out of nowhere!

There could definitely be more than one theme for this one.

I solved Semantle #35 in 153 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 9.75. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #90. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 14.02. semantle.novalis.org/

My highest is 899 so far... really stuck, so I would love a hint or higher word please 🙏🏻 thanks 😁 😊

Some of my lower green words (ie 62, 65, 237, etc) are confusing me, but seem to have a theme from 465 upwards, although struggling to see how the relate to my lowest guesses, which is where the confusion is coming in, I think 🤔.

They relate because the secret word has two meanings. Don't want to give too much away!

I think keep going with both themes, carry in going along the 62, 65, 237 theme as well as the other one - you could get it by either theme.

I’m on 811 and am completely stuck. I got yesterdays in 212, which was the first one I’d solved. But this is just annoying.

Some words that to me seem hugely linked don't seem to register at all.

I solved Semantle #35 in 17 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 11.76. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #16. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 48.38 (986/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I mostly give up so this was very exciting!

I too would love a hint. I got a ???? word which is somewhere above 811, but now I’ve stalled again.

Never mind, I gave up. This game is so annoying!

811 is where I'm stuck at now.
