Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Got it! Could not understand why I had so many seemingly unrelated words scoring green but of course it made sense when I finally got there!

I have one green word that I just cannot link, it was my first green word. 480 so threw me straight off.

Can someone say more about the ???

I've tried with and without capitals, American spelling etc. can't seem to get anywhere with it.

I can't click on it to go somewhere, I've tried.

I need a clue please. 505 guesses in and still stuck on 958

@RoxieLoxy it's not a usual type of 958, it's one someone steps on.

Thanks @InMySpareTime got it at last. Only by googling using your clue though. I don't get how it links to the top words so I'd never have got it otherwixd

I solved Semantle #35 in 391 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.31. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #122. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 38.73 (884/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Just jumped to 477, but no sign of David yet.

I'm at 849 (using David's weapon as a cheat) - a definite theme, but any wider related words are cold....am confused!
