Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I'm still stuck at 762, with my next highest at 707. I suppose at those levels they're probably quite tenuous relationships but trying to explore sidesteps out from their various meanings is getting me nowhere except cold.

707 is a lot more helpful than 762!!

Okay I still have no idea how half those words were connected to the winning word. Today’s was bonkers.

I got an answer that didn't have a rank! I didn't even know that was a thing. What's with the ???? I'm otherwise stumped. Is the word an object or a concept?

Oh wow sudden leap to word 922…..still getting loads of duds though, on guess 233 now, I really don’t think I’m following what’s going on today.

Got it thanks to @BowerOfBramble I was on the completely wrong train of thought so it was throwing my guesses off!

I don’t know what’s going on. Over 300 guesses now and apart from my outlier at 922 everything is below 564 and I really haven’t got a clue

Do you want a hint? I can see why 922 would throw you off. Think about it as a material rather than a thing.

Wow, just got it. I jumped from 718 to the word, what luck ha.
Just as well because looking at the closest words I have no idea what they are

Got it, finally! I'd been off down a manual rabbit hole for ages then changed tack.

Got it! Could not understand why I had so many seemingly unrelated words scoring green but of course it made sense when I finally got there!
