Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I had to give up on todays. I got to 900 and then realised I’d had over 100 guesses. I wasn’t even close.

I've been stuck on 970 for most of the day. Keep guessing related words but they come up lower

My highest is 947. Seem to have two completely different themes running through the top 1000 words. It's most bizarre!

I’m on 984 and going nowhere! This game is infuriating but I put myself through it every day.

Similar story here, got to 983 and now just going backwards

I’m completely stuck today - I’m at 80 words and my highest is 991. I don’t think I know any more similar words!

After playing for 5 days and giving up......

I solved Semantle #33 in 27 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 13.74. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #12. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 30.88 (797/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I'm at 968, a definite theme for all of my green bar guesses, and I feel like I 'know' what the word is but I can't think of it!

I like this game! I saw the previous thread and had a couple of goes, but I'd forgotten about it again until now. Just passed the time nicely while I wait for DD's drama class to finish.

I solved Semantle #33 in 52 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 10.84. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #15. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 27.53 (516/1000).

After 6 days, I have finally found the secret word!

Ok after a whole day of getting no higher than 966 I concede to needing a hint.

I’ve got 966, 962, 956. If anyone can PM me a hint (maybe that helps in conjunction with those words?) I would appreciate it.
