Semantle Chapter 2

Since the madness of our love/hate affair with Semantle is continuing, I thought I start a second thread. Why worry about the goings on in the world when you can pull your hair out over vocabulary?

To umderstand what I'm on about follow this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I don't think looking up synonyms is cheating if you're stuck.

Tricky game today. I was on the right track.

Finally!

I solved Semantle #33 in 305 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.34. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #12. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 59.54 (998/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I didn't like todays, I gave up in the end. When looking at the list of connected words I was glad I had given up. I had several green guesses but the links were far too tenuous for me to ever guess the correct word.

I'm beginning to think I'll only ever guess the words when they are nouns.

I got 999/1000 the other day and STILL couldn't get the word.
When I eventually gave in and saw what the correct word was, I was a little Confused

It's a good concept but I don't think it's great just yet.

This is really good for me I usually take 200 plus guesses. I can go to sleep now!!

I found today’s much easier even though it took me more words than yesterday’s!
I didn’t hit a green word word until guess 81 but then hit jackpot 4 guesses later.

I think yesterdays was difficult because some of the 'green' words people got stuck on were using 'bold' in the sort of way it's used in ads or describing fashions hence high hits like 'fresh' or 'colourful'.
