How much did you pay for your DC's school leavers hoodie? Did your DS or DD wear them much after they had left school?

A couple of years ago, but ours were £20 non-personalised or £23.50 personalised. It got worn until the end of year 7, but not after that.

frazzledquaver · 02/03/2022 15:36

They are usually around £20 I think. For my older DC, there was a choice of hoodies and I went for a more expensive one (£25) but I shouldn't have bothered. They wore them once or twice. To me the whole performance around leaving junior school is weird. A nice certificate and getting the class to sign your school shirt would be a better option. Don't get me started on year books and leavers videos.

WeAllHaveWings · 02/03/2022 15:39

end of primary school they wore them for 2 days in school, nowhere else. think it was around £20

he is wanting one for secondary too this year, as they are allowed to wear in school for the last week. waste of money and generally wasteful. wish people wouldnt come up with these stupid ideas

Around £20. Neither DD wore theirs much at all. At our primary the school refuse to get involved, so some poor volunteer has weeks of chasing up money, sizing and gets yelled at when a name is spelt wrong dispite multiple messages asking to confirm spellings.

MrsMoastyToasty · 02/03/2022 15:41

My DS is year 11. He will be leaving the school to do a levels elsewhere, as his school doesn't have any A level provision. It would be one of the ones with all student names (about 150 names) contained within the "22".

My kids wore theirs loads; in fact, I bought my eldest too big, so she's only just stopped wearing it 3 years later!

LadyCordeliaFitzgerald · 02/03/2022 15:46

Ours were worn for the last month of school and through the summer holidays. The size options were adult L, M, S, XS and the teacher had them guess their sizes, not mentioning the adult aspect, so you can imagine how well that worked out

Ted27 · 02/03/2022 15:48

My son still wears his two years later. He is 17

SirChenjins · 02/03/2022 15:49

I think it was £20 from memory - and a complete waste of money imo. It got worn for a couple of weeks and then no-one wanted to wear them as they were senior school pupils and therefore didn't want to be associated with primary school any longer.

IggyAce · 02/03/2022 15:51

£17 my dc received it just before Xmas and has worn it every day for school.

Crackercrazy · 02/03/2022 15:51

I can answer this as I’ve just ordered one. £18 or £23 with personalisation. I didn’t think my DD would want one (she doesn’t like school) but her love of hoodies won!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/03/2022 15:51

Our Primary they get them first thing after the October half term and can wear them as uniform throughout the rest of Y6.

TeenPlusCat · 02/03/2022 15:52

I don't think primary ones seem to get worn much round here past the summer, they get outgrown if nothing else.
I do quite often see y11 hoodies being worn around even 2 or 3 r more years later. (They are obvious from the gigantic 19 or whatever on the back).

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 02/03/2022 15:53

Dc1 y6 hoodie last year was £25 without personalisation but she needed an adult size. Dc2 this year was £22.50 without personalisation for a child size (different supplier to last year). It was £5 extra to have their name/nickname on both.

MajorCarolDanvers · 02/03/2022 15:54

No charge for us. The PTA raised the money to cover the cost of all hoodies as a gift to the P7s.

winesolveseverything · 02/03/2022 16:04

Our was £20 with their names etc on.
Bought a big one. Worn loads and loads and loads over 3 years, when he then got another (3 tier system) and now he wears the new one loads and loads!!

JuneOsborne · 02/03/2022 16:05

£25 and exactly the same as you describe op,all names in the numbers of the year they left.

Never been worn!

Thepaintedgarden · 02/03/2022 16:09

Worn loads here - year 11 and year 13 ones.

nagsarse · 02/03/2022 16:14

Mine have each had one recently- one for leaving primary and one for the end of Y11. Both £20, and with the year and all the names on. Primary hoodie could be worn for the last week in school and has only been worn once since. Secondary one is occasionally worn in the house as it's quite big and cosy- but won't be worn out of the house. Both a waste of money and not good for the environment as they can't be passed on to anyone. I knew this was likely, but it would have been very difficult to say no when all the children at school were talking about them.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 02/03/2022 16:15

Ours are free, funded by the PTA

CandyflossKid · 02/03/2022 16:16

£16 four years ago. Still worn as 'lounge wear' by my son now

Clockbookbeast · 02/03/2022 16:21

Year 6 leavers hoodie Dc1 never wore it (was Payed for by school), Dc2 wore it all summer term and school holidays and never again, dc3 wore it till grew out of it (year 8) Dc2&3 both cost just under £20.
Y11 hoodie Dc1 refused to order one think they were priced at £25.

cptartapp · 02/03/2022 16:23

They were about £20 in year six. Worn for the last few weeks in school but never again. Half of DS2 year decided to have 'made up' nicknames put on instead of their full name so several years on its meaningless. He doesn't remember who 'pineapple' was!
Didn't bother for secondary.

Comefromaway · 02/03/2022 16:26

My daughter wore hers to death. My son lost his (but he loses lots of hoodies)

FionnulaTheCooler · 02/03/2022 16:27

Paid about £23 for DD's, with personalisation. She got it just after the October holidays and has worn it as part of school uniform daily ever since and will continue to do so until it gets too warm to wear it so I feel like I've had my moneys worth even if it never gets worn again after the summer holidays when she's at high school.
