Pancakes for dinner?

Is it normal on pancake day to just have pancakes (obviously a horrendous amount) for dinner?

Or, do you have supper and then have them for pudding?

Im just really curious, let me know what you do in your household MN

Disclaimer: it was a pancake party which started at about 4pm and went on until midnight. And no, I wasn't sick and it didn't put me off pancakes. Also yes, they were all lemon and sugar, obviously.

Always pancakes for dinner with lots of different fruit Smile

booplefloof · 01/03/2022 18:42

Brie and goats cheese, and bacon.
Sautéed vegetables as an accompaniment.

Nutella, lemon and sugar or maple
syrup for afters.

We usually have them for breakfast or straight after school with maple syrup/yoghurt/honey/blueberries, but sometimes we have them for brunch with crispy bacon and maple syrup. I think any time is perfect for pancakes!

Roselilly36 · 01/03/2022 18:48

We had a KFC delivery and then pancakes for pudding. Not something we would usually do, but we all really enjoyed it.

Mumski45 · 01/03/2022 18:52

We had both. Savoury as a meal and then sweet ones for desert.

@Notmuchever

Pancakes Nutella and banana for dinner here!
Same here....with marshmallows too! Grin

But yes, pancakes are dinner in this house, on pancake day! 🥞

KenAdams · 01/03/2022 19:56

American for dinner, traditional for dessert

2DemisSVP · 01/03/2022 20:02

Mine have to have 2 savoury to start (Cheese ham and sweetcorn) then onto sweet. One has lemon and sugar, the other likes Nutella banana. But we eat pancakes a lot ! Always thin pancakes (which aren’t crepes, as I don’t use oil).

Breathmiller · 01/03/2022 20:02

Savoury Scottish style pancakes for main course with bacon, asparagus and mushrooms and then a couple of crepes for dessert. Sugar and lemon for ds and raspberries for me.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 01/03/2022 20:16

The DC just had pancakes for dinner - NINE each, all sweet! Shock - but DH and I are having a Thai curry as he doesn't like pancakes, and whilst I love them, I try to stick to low carb.

@hellcatspangle

We used to have pancakes for dinner when I was a kid. Now I just make them for dessert (so I don't have to make dozens of the buggers)
Snap. And jackets with beans as low input but filling enough that I don’t have to make eleventy million pancakes (esp as having to make two batches as I’m gluten free)

DC had an abnormal amount of sweet pancakes for dinner I was happy but now eldest wants more food....lol

itsnotdeep · 01/03/2022 20:22

just pancakes here! I think last year I did them as a dessert, but there was too much food (we don't normally have pudding on a weekday).

And no, none of that savoury business either.

womaninatightspot · 01/03/2022 20:26

we have savoury ones, dutch style with melted cheese and ham/ chorizo. Then the sweet ones, I was distracted by cooking the dc got through an entire can of squirty cream.

In other news I bought a pancake pan from Aldi that makes 7 mini pancakes with faces on. Massive hit with the DC, highly recommend buying one when they are half price tomorrow :)

valerianaofficiana · 02/03/2022 06:44

You could have it all🤓: crepes with lemon and sugar(choose your toppings) for breakfast, American pancakes with bacon and maple syrup for lunch and Crepes Bretonne with ham, cheese and egg for supper. Voilà!

Joystir59 · 02/03/2022 06:46

Pancakes for dinner. I only ever have pancakes on pancake Day!

Joystir59 · 02/03/2022 06:47

Savoury pancakes are not ok imo. Pancakes with lemon and sugar is where it's at.

FantasticFebruary · 02/03/2022 08:24

Pancakes FOR dinner!!

Just with lemon & sugar.

Crinkle77 · 02/03/2022 08:27

We just have pancakes. About 4 each mmmmm!!!

Kendodd · 02/03/2022 08:29

We had pancakes for dinner last night. Didn't even bother with a savoury one first either, just went straight for the fruit and nutella. Delicious!

Raindancer411 · 02/03/2022 08:31

When growing up it was in place of a dinner. Now I am older husband does them as pudding as that is how it was for him growing up...

HarrietteNightingale · 02/03/2022 08:42

Savoury with creamed spinach, cheese and garlic mushrooms, followed by sweet with lemon and sugar for me and lemon and maple syrup for DP. Delicious.

We always do it this way, I make savoury toppings and he does all the pancakes. He's much better at the flipping than I am.

SartresSoul · 02/03/2022 09:08

Dinner with loads of different toppings.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 02/03/2022 09:18

@BooksAndHooks

Kids had light dinner and pancakes in a min for pudding. I’m just having pancakes as I don’t have enough calories for both.
@BooksAndHooks you don’t have enough calories? What?!
