Pancakes for dinner?

Is it normal on pancake day to just have pancakes (obviously a horrendous amount) for dinner?

Or, do you have supper and then have them for pudding?

Im just really curious, let me know what you do in your household MN

Pancakes for dinner of course!

CornishGem1975 · 01/03/2022 18:19

I just have them for dinner with lemon and sugar. My kids however are horrified at this and insisted on a proper meal but we had pancakes first.

BeyondMyWits · 01/03/2022 18:21

Just for pudding here. 3 dinner plate sized with lemon and sugar each.

Having a light tea... roasted salmon with fresh pasta.

Pudding here.

This has been very interesting! Thank you all :)

We had just pancakes. Fluffy american style ones with maple syrup. I was going to cook some sausages with them but I couldn't be arsed. I'll probably have a sugar crash in about an hour.

SenecaFallsRedux · 01/03/2022 18:30

I'm in the US. We're having pancakes (American style, of course) for dinner, with maple syrup and lots of bacon.

Scbchl · 01/03/2022 18:31

We just have them as a a dessert

ClariceQuiff · 01/03/2022 18:32

When we were children my mum did them as pudding. I still remember the excitement of watching her toss them, and then my dad always had to have the first one. We had the old Jif lemon shaped like a lemon, and granulated sugar from the sugar bowl.

As an adult, I can't make a pancake to save my life so hardly ever bother. The last time I attempted it, DH and I made the somewhat mangled and shredded results into our 'dinner' that Shrove Tuesday. DH put jam on his, which was an abomination!

RovenderKitt · 01/03/2022 18:32

Pancakes for dinner. Sausage and beans for dds, asparagus and mushroom in a lemon sauce for me. Will have a lemon and sugar one later.

Weekendvibes · 01/03/2022 18:32

Pudding in our house, but imo anything goes on pancake day it's fine to have them whenever you fancy.

minipie · 01/03/2022 18:33

We had honorary pancake day on Sunday, had loads of pancakes for brunch. Bit of batter left over which will do a couple for pudding today.

Hugasauras · 01/03/2022 18:34

We had them for brunch as we all prefer sweet toppings and I prefer that kind of meal earlier in the day. DD prefers the fluffy American kind so we had those with various toppings (Nutella one of them obv, and the obligatory lemon and sugar!).

Msbobblysock · 01/03/2022 18:34

Breakfast and dinner just pancakes here.

ukborn · 01/03/2022 18:36

Lardons or chorizo and onions with sprinkling of peppers and tomatoes and cheese for the savoury, followed by Nutella and banana with dollop of honey yogurt for dessert.

mamaduckbone · 01/03/2022 18:37

Pancakes for pudding here. Dh and ds16 would have to eat an OBSCENE amount of pancakes for that to be enough for dinnerGrin

mamaduckbone · 01/03/2022 18:37

And savoury pancakes are very wrong so it would be a syrup and Nutella OD...

LaChatte · 01/03/2022 18:38

Just pancakes.

Personal record of 42 (established as a skinny 12 year old).

ApricotArcade · 01/03/2022 18:38

Pancakes for dinner - ham and cheese
Pancakes for pudding - lemon and sugar
Wonderful!

heidihigh · 01/03/2022 18:38

Always for dessert growing up.. I can't bring myself to eat them for tea even now

Riverlee · 01/03/2022 18:39

We had a light meal (hot dogs) and then pancakes for desserts. I had one lemon and sugar, and then one with chocolate buttons and ice cream.

HoobleDooble · 01/03/2022 18:39

Pancakes as a snack when my constantly 'starving' teen got home from school, then tea when DH gets back from giving platelets.

Chocoqueen · 01/03/2022 18:40

Usually savoury ones for dinner and lemon and sugar for dessert. But I have a baby this year and cba, so we had pasta for dinner and pancakes for dessert (which I made this afternoon and reheated...)

sadpapercourtesan · 01/03/2022 18:40

Pancakes with bacon, sausages and cheese for dinner

Pancakes with lemon/sugar, or Nutella/whipped cream for pudding

DoingAway · 01/03/2022 18:40

Dinner. I contemplate doing savoury ones for like a millisecond before I bin the idea
