Petrol queue

bananaskin123 · 25/02/2022 22:48

Anyone else noticed this starting again? Went to Sainsburys yesterday. Usually stop at their petrol station then drive to the car park for their store but yesterday there was an enormous queue for petrol.
Only asking because quite a few people have mentioned difficulties today on our local Face Book page. Surely there's no need to go down this road again. Are people just panic buying?

No queues at any that I passed today, and I must have passed at least 6

Just a heads up

SpaghettiSquash · 25/02/2022 22:52

No. Everything normal here.

Lolliepoppie · 25/02/2022 22:53

No queues round here for petrol. I filled up today and got a pump straight away.

GirlInACountrySong · 25/02/2022 22:54

its payday weekend...natural to see people filling up?

BIWI · 25/02/2022 22:55

Yep - I went to our Sainsbury's today and the petrol station was rammed. (Wonder if it was the same one?!)

WeAreTheHeroes · 25/02/2022 22:55

Was very busy at Tesco near work this pm and the one nearest home where I filled up (because I had no fuel) was out of diesel at 6.30 tonight.

BeforeGodAndAllTheFish · 25/02/2022 22:55

Threads like this arent going to help. It's the drip drip drip that makes people start to panic and run out to do the same.

justasoul · 25/02/2022 22:56

No queues but no diesel at the petrol station I went to yesterday. If anything it was unusually quiet (I assume from the lack of diesel, there was a sign at the entrance).

SpottyStripyDuvet · 25/02/2022 22:57

I heard about some panic buying in the media but had to unexpectedly do a long trip today. I passed numerous petrol stations and they all seemed to be open with no queues. I filled up with no problems at the other end of my journey.

Northernlurker · 25/02/2022 22:57

It's Friday so always busy.i filled up yesterday as down to my last 20 miles. It seemed brisk.

Notonthestairs · 25/02/2022 22:58

Payday weekend. Nothing has altered at my local garage.

MajorCarolDanvers · 25/02/2022 22:59

Everything normal where I am.

Hope you are not another bot trying to stir things up.

NETSRIK · 25/02/2022 23:00

No

Deliberateplanning · 25/02/2022 23:01

Payday - always fill up then

Notanotherwindow · 25/02/2022 23:02

There was a queue at my sainsburys too. Maybe it's a sainsburys thing? None of the others did.

OutsideVoice · 25/02/2022 23:03

Have driven past 6 petrol stations today - all as normal, no queues.

bloodywhitecat · 25/02/2022 23:05

My DH is rapidly approaching end of life and we need visits from the hospice and the DNs, the idea of queues and panic buying terrifies me, what if the nurses can't get to us due to shortages?

Koalaleia · 25/02/2022 23:05

Yep my local Tesco petrol station was very busy today.

MushroomCat · 25/02/2022 23:06

Please stop with the panic threads.

Nobody is stock piling. It was just a busy station, I passed four today and none were busy at best 2-3 people filling up!

Xiaoxiong · 25/02/2022 23:18

Just got a taxi home from a wine tasting Wine and we stopped at about 12 petrol stations looking for a cashpoint. No queues in any of them, so I can say with confidence that there are no petrol buying issues in East Berkshire!

MrPenguinsPoppers · 25/02/2022 23:27

Annoyingly both my local Tesco stations ran out after locals went a bit mad at lunch time. Also took me 40 minutes to get to Costco store earlier as people were queuing half a mile back to the dual carriageway for fuel.
This was Staffordshire. It was possibly spurred by the chip and pin machines going down in one store building queues onto the petrol station, this then became a panic buy. Madness.

BIWI · 25/02/2022 23:29

@MushroomCat

Well that might be true for you, but my post was also true to me!

So I think some people are panic buying. (Which I do think is stupid)

worriedatthemoment · 25/02/2022 23:30

Loads of empty pumps here , people filling its like they haven't learnt from last time

worriedatthemoment · 25/02/2022 23:33

Thing is there isn't a shortage so they will just get filled up again, people buying to save a few pence incase it goes up
