Feeling very tearful at the thought of ordinary people in Kyiv being given guns

I find it heartbreaking and so sad to think of ordinary families in Kyiv being told to make Molotov cocktails and defend themselves with guns. Can't imagine how terrified I would feel if BoJo was handing out machine guns telling us to protect our nation. Anyone else?

I'd rather be given a gun then nothing

Georgeskitchen · 25/02/2022 15:54

Yes it's worrying but I bet there will be plenty of people willing to do what it takes to protect their families

TinaYouFatLard · 25/02/2022 15:57

Anyone else??? Of course EVERYONE finds the situation heartbreaking.

This is becoming a revolting opportunity to virtue signal on here. With animal shelter donation and playing Ukrainian music on Alexa in support. It’s grotesque.

Flamingo49 · 25/02/2022 15:59

Oh I completely agree, I just wonder if they're thinking "I'm a primary school teacher, how on earth has my life turned into this?"

I get it OP. It's shocking stuff and you're allowed to be upset. Flowers

👏 👏 👏 Exactly. It’s fucking grim.
NETSRIK · 25/02/2022 16:09

Anyone else? Are you seriously asking if anyone else feels the same?
Come on!! Are you expecting someone to post that they are overjoyed at the thought of being handed a gun and they can't wait to have a go?

DSGR · 25/02/2022 16:11

I’m with you OP, teacup about the whole thing. Wish we could do something!

Hmum0three · 25/02/2022 16:11

Finding it hard to control my emotions, videos are circulating of bodies it's horrific Sad

DSGR · 25/02/2022 16:11

Tearful!

I find the phenomenon quite interesting.

Tara336 · 25/02/2022 16:15

Seeing the tank deliberately run over the car brought me too tears, Thankfully the man survived but it was just such a deliberate act of cruelty. I hope that diplomacy will win but I honestly can't see that happening. I worry for us all

Why would you look at this though?

cheddez · 25/02/2022 16:18

It's shocking stuff and you're allowed to be upset.

I don't think anyone had said no one should be upset have they?

peboh · 25/02/2022 16:19

I don't think there's a decent person in the world who doesn't find this situation heartbreaking.

Juniper68 · 25/02/2022 16:22

OP might not have anyone else to discuss this with? No need to attack them. Isn't there enough shit going on without being nasty on here.

cheddez · 25/02/2022 16:26

I'm not sure it's an attack....

Sheilablessus · 25/02/2022 16:52

You sound surprised OP, Why?
It has been talked about for months. did you think it 'just' talk?
Are you blaming the Ukrainians for fighting back?
Are you a Russian sympathiser? Is that why you think it wrong to arm them.

No, OP. You are a truly special empath to understand that this must be fucking terrifying, all us regular folks thought they were just having a bad day

This sums it up. Of course people are allowed to be upset and emotional but all the posting about it and comparing of emotions of sadness/revulsion is quite grotesque.

And being able to spend the morning/day crying about repeatedly as many posters on other threads have said they're doing is a privileged position in itself. Plenty of people know the situation is bad and what's happening to people is heartbreaking but don't have the time or capacity to stay on top of rolling new and watch videos of bodies or tanks.

Flamingo49 · 25/02/2022 17:35

Wow. Thanks to the supportive poster who said I might not have anyone else to talk to about this- I don't. I was just trying to express my upset at what the Ukrainian people are having to face right now. Not virtue signalling, not saying people don't have the right to arm themselves. I was trying to parent two young kids at the time of posting so sorry if the words weren't quite right for some people.

Viviennemary · 25/02/2022 17:39

I would do it. I'd rather go down fighting than become an obedient serf under Putin's regime.

TheGreatATuin · 25/02/2022 17:45

I see the people who think we shouldn't talk about things are out finger wagging again.
Apparently, the proper response is to shake your head sadly in a darkened room then get back to your day.
Yes, it is horrifying. Yes, we should speak about it. Whether you like it or not, public outrage and empathy does influence politicians. This isn't a subject we should be quiet about, in any form.

goawaystormy · 25/02/2022 17:52

Public outrage is very different from 'I feel so sad, I'm heartbroken, I don't know what I would do/how i'd feel' etc etc.

Of course we should talk about things and express public outrage, but we can do it without making it all about ourselves and our feelings.
