Cost of new boiler with fitting....

Hello everyone,
Does anyone have an idea how much roughly a new combi boiler is with fitting please. In the south east.... I've had a quote but it seems high. Another plumber wants to charge a big call out fee before he will even look!
TIA

I think anywhere from 2.5-4.5k depending on how many radiators etc or if you need new radiators etc.

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 24/02/2022 10:54

Sorry I should have said, no radiators or anything. Just the boiler. The 1st quote was either fix the boiler but it is very old or replace. It would cost alot to fix so I'm inclined to go for a new one....

We paid £2600 18 months ago

IsDaveThere · 24/02/2022 10:58

I had one in Sept 21 and it was £2400.

Mindymomo · 24/02/2022 11:08

Combi boilers cost anything from £800 upwards, you can check online the actual cost of the boiler quoted. We are Southeast and my brother paid £1,500 last year, but was a straightforward changeover, it was all done in a day.

SeasonFinale · 24/02/2022 11:09

£3k average

Tamtam86 · 24/02/2022 11:13

I paid £2k just before Christmas, which was a bit less than I expected, but this was just a straight switch and took him about half a day to change it so I think it was quite a simple job as far as boilers go.

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 24/02/2022 11:13

OK, so the 1st quote is actually sounding OK...

The people that have said they have had it done, was it literally just a straight swap, old boiler for new....

I paid £3,900 last week... It is quite a powerful boiler though (40kw?) because we are over 3 floors and have multiple showers. It required some new pipework, frost protection system, insulation and a few other bits and bobs. Was a £60 call out fee to assess it but that was deducted from the total.

cultkid · 24/02/2022 11:17

My husband is a gas safe engineer

Straight swap of a combi can be under 2k if it's a cheaper boiler. Normally around 2,500-4000 depending on the job.

Where in south east are you as London will be a lot more?

HeadingForHome · 24/02/2022 11:17

Even with a boiler out boiler in job there will
probably be a few other bits and pieces that need done to bring everything up to standard if the previous boiler was old.

We paid 4K odd at the end of last year for new Worcester Bosch boiler servicing a huge mega flow system

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 24/02/2022 11:24

It's in Hampshire, so not quite London prices!
I've been quoted £1950 for new boiler and filter fitted....

That sounds like a reasonable price. What make is the boiler?
Hoppinggreen · 24/02/2022 11:27

£1800 2 years ago (yorkshire)

It's an Ideal logic max boiler and a honey well control

I paid £1500 a few months back replacing a regular boiler with a new ideal combi. This included all work, waste removal, removing hot water storage tank and doing chemical flush of system. But I’ve known my plumber for years so he may have cut me a good deal. South east.

BarbaraofSeville · 24/02/2022 11:33

Worcester Bosch (I think) have an arm where you can enter details online to get a fixed quote.

www.boxt.co.uk/?mkwid=s81pmz2l3|pcrid|559275134375|pkw|how%20much%20is%20a%20worcester%20boiler|pmt|b|pdv|c|slid||&pgrid=107538373907&ptaid=kwd-307401611218&gclid=CjwKCAiA9tyQBhAIEiwA6tdCrNgmCBP7Gr_kW0pnzC3HeK_t948A-wBPtk5_OviZaaJX38w4q5f3iRoC7UMQAvD_BwE Boxt]]

You could use this to sense check your price, which does sound lower than average, but I don't know how good the boiler is.

Laffinalltheway · 24/02/2022 11:35

You can google British Gas new boiler and there's a portal to put in your details such as how many radiators it will feed, how many bedrooms, where is your flue etc. It will then recommend the best boilers for you. You can use this as a price guide.

Ifailed · 24/02/2022 11:37

Even with a straight swap there will be a need for some new connectors, re-location of pipes etc. It's a good time to get your system flushed out as well.

JudgeRindersMinder · 24/02/2022 11:38

£3k for 40kw Worcester Bosch combi with Hive controller

Starisnotanumber · 24/02/2022 11:40

Try Boxt.
They allow you to put in details such as house size type of flue you have already and then give you recommendations.
Also they arrange for fitting which is included in price.
They have good ratings on trust pilot from thousands of people so must be doing a good job.

nearlyspringyay · 24/02/2022 11:40

Mine was 3k for an ideal without a thermostat but we needed higher pressure/flow? Because we've the rads in the loft conversion that are running off thin pipes.

London, last Christmas.
