Levi Bellfield!!

He’s a piece of work isn’t he?!

The Russell murders was the 1st case that really stayed with me and shocked me as a teenager and I have followed it ever since.

I’d love for there to be a definitive answer and right the right person to be held accountable but Bellfield is a classic narcissist and psychopath and toying with this confession and all the details he’s given to get a bit of lime light and cause further distress is right up his street...

I read today what when he finally gave all the really awful details of Milly Dowlers murder he would only do so to female officers...make of rhat what you will!

I’ve also seen that the police believe he could be behind many other murders and assaults in the London’s area and beyond, I think of all the old crime watch reconstructions, cold cases that come into the press often and think which of those he could be behind and the poor families still waiting for answers...

@GirlInACountrySong
I watched a tv documentary and there was speculation that Daley may have been lying.

AlternativePerspective · 06/02/2022 18:18

Michael stone is a murdering cunt.

Anyone who says they feel for him needs to have a long hard look at themselves.

Crunchymum · 06/02/2022 18:29

@GirlInACountrySong

Feel free to have a Google (which is what I did) to see what I am talking about when I say there was a lot of corroborated evidence that was inadmissible in court. I am not taking about the evidence he was convicted on.

i'm having a looooong hard look at myself....nope, not seeing much more than i usually see..i stand by if he's innocent i will still feel for him. miscarriage of justice is no joke, just as those horrific murders aren't

I am googling but I’m finding stuff saying there isn’t any evidence against Stone, the dna on the shoelace didn’t match, etc. If anyone could link to an alternative view point I’d genuinely like to read it.

Hearwego · 06/02/2022 18:38

Is it possible he’s confessed for some warped reason? Maybe some sick game?
What evidence was there against Stone?

Such an awful murder, I remember it so well and that it happened in rural Kent.

It could have happened to anyone, just a normal family on a dog walk.

GirlInACountrySong · 06/02/2022 18:38

google isn't producing much for me either.

Hearwego · 06/02/2022 18:44

Also Bellfield murdered lone women. The attack on the Russell family was quite different to Bellfields style.

Also, I don’t think Bellfield had any reason to be in that part of Kent on that day. He used to drive around in his van looking for potential victims, not walk around fields in the middle of no where.
I’m not convinced without knowing more.

GirlInACountrySong · 06/02/2022 18:50

they were at a road junction, just on the lane near woods

so his van would be there easily (but it was a car this time) he already admitted to being in the Chillendon area and its possible he only saw Lin,with the children running ahead or in the woods

AuntMasha · 06/02/2022 18:52

He had an irrational hatred of very young blonde women and I think there was a marked similarity in every one of his known victims in that respect. For this reason I have my doubts about his claims about Lin and Meghan Russell as they really don’t fit that narrow profile.

Hearwego · 06/02/2022 18:56

Apparently Bellfield has given details in his confession that only the killer would know.**

Maybe so. But is it possible Stone and Bellfield spoke to each other in prison, about the murders?

itsgettingweird · 06/02/2022 18:57

@AlternativePerspective

I find it quite disturbing that people are already expressing sympathy towards Michael Stone presumably Based on their understandable hatred of Bellfield and their desire to believe that he’s guilty.
Agree. It's quite fascinating psychology.

Bellfield is an evil fuck of the highest order. He's probably a minefield to forensic psychologists.

But it doesn't mean he's responsible for all evil.

AlternativePerspective · 06/02/2022 18:59

@ GirlInACountrySong I’m intrigued as to what connection you have to Michael stone given you are so adamantly defending him.

He was convicted, denied appeal, twice. Obviously there was evidence enough to convict him beyond reasonable doubt and thus far nothing has been produced to prove otherwise.

He was in prison with Bellfield so it’s entirely likely that they plotted together so Stone could be released earlier, probably to go out murdering other innocent women and children.

Just because Bellfield has produced some alleged confession doesn’t mean he is guilty and Stone is innocent.

Lesserspottedmama · 06/02/2022 19:06

It’s revolting we still keep these people alive. It’s not progressive, it’s not humane, it’s not any of the things we tell ourselves. It’s another example of how death has become intolerable under any circumstances, something we hide from at all costs, even a monster like that people would baulk at the idea of his life being deliberately ended. We are all paying for how weak and lily-livered we have become.

GlitchStitch · 06/02/2022 19:07

Michael Stone was known for attacking people with hammers, there was a theft of a lawn mower very close to the murder site the same day, and MS apparently tried to sell one to a friend shortly after. He also burnt the clothes he was wearing on the day of the murders.
He has a history of severe violence and is the only suspect in a previous murder too. The sympathy for him on this thread is bizarre.

NoHunsHereHun · 06/02/2022 19:08

Hasn’t he mentioned things that only the killer would know? He has a history of controlling and abusive behaviour to to the women in his life, and it seems just as reasonable that his ex would lie for him. I’m also convinced Patsy Morris was his first murder victim, despite him only being 12 or 13 at the time. Reading about the things he’s said, and what happened to her, it seems so likely. There was a MN thread recently on ‘evil’. He is evil and deserves to rot slowly and painfully.

NoHunsHereHun · 06/02/2022 19:10

I didn’t realise he’d been in with Stone. Ugh, the thought of them colluding on this is chilling.

GlitchStitch · 06/02/2022 19:10

I don't think it's true that his ex would lie for him, she was instrumental in helping convict him for Milly Dowler's murder and the police consider her to be a credible witness.

Both his exes helped convict him. I don't think they would lie for him. He's never getting out.
1forAll74 · 06/02/2022 19:21

Do these evil killers in prison, get access to TV documentaries and books about murderers. If so they could, or would be able to conjure up all sorts of thoughts about their own killing sprees., as lots of them have very warped minds. So viewing documentaries about themsleves, could well affect them, and promote them to do what Bellfield has done, to involve himself into another murder case.. to get some more notoriety.

I was just watching the Bellfield documentary, about the country's most evil killers, two nights ago. and was wondering then, if killers in prisons, get to see these programmes about themsleves.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/02/2022 19:37

Wikipedia has good entries on both these men.

By any measure, Michael Stone is a very very dangerous individual and Bellfield is an attention-seeking narcissist, whose word is not to be trusted.

I remain to be convinced.

Paddingtonthebear · 06/02/2022 19:58

Bellfield’s ex helped the police a lot and in convicting him of the murder of Millie Dowler and she’s always said he was with her the whole day of the Russell murders, as it was her birthday.

Michael Stone is a complete maniac who was known to carry a hammer in his car and had spoken to various people about fantasies of killing women and children.

I think it’s more likely that it is Stone and not Bellfield

AlternativePerspective · 06/02/2022 19:59

Have just been reading about Michael stone on Wikipedia.

He was a nasty piece of work even before he was convicted of the murders. Awful, despicable excuse for a human being, and quite how anyone can sit here and say they feel for him is beyond me.

He was suspected of another murder, regularly attacked people with hammers, beat his girlfriend almost to death and the list goes on.

I would have written the fucker off even before he murdered the Russells.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 06/02/2022 20:14

I am not sure that Wikipedia is a credible source for establishing guilt or innocence......

StScholastica · 06/02/2022 20:14

My thoughts are very much with Josie, a woman who has fought hard to recover and build a life for herself. For her sake, I wish today's news had not been so widely reported. Sad
